Altium Designer now supports TrueType fonts for PCBs. This gives users access to a greater number of fonts. It also means foreign characters and symbols can be placed on boards. The implementation includes full Gerber/ODB++ support and printing. The system is based on Unicode strings and therefore provides full support for multiple languages including Chinese and Japanese as well as symbols. This also allows other languages to be used in comment fields that can then be forward annotate, via ECO, from schematic to PCB. The system supports the embedding of fonts into PCB files so that they can be used on systems that do not have the specified font.
