"We chose Altium as our electronic design environment for two reasons. The first reason had to do with Altium’s ability to import and edit database files from a variety of different vendors. In the design consulting business, we are often required to edit schematic and layout files from OrCAD, Pads, or some other EDA vendor. Rather than maintain licenses for a variety of different tools, Altium allows us to import and edit 95% of the PCB designs that come through our door. Second, the annotation between the different phases of the electronic design flow such as schematic-to-PCB, PCB-to-schematic, PCB-to-FPGA, etc eliminates many headaches and inefficiencies that most designers take for granted. The only way we can stay in business is by taking our customers to market quickly, and with minimal errors along the way. Altium helps us accomplish this.
