39th WorldSkills Competition Shizuoka, Japan

The 39th WorldSkills Games will use Altium Designer as the standard platform for all compeitors in the Industrial Electronics Design category. The Competition will host more that 850 young people from over 45 Member countries and regions, with the Industrial Electronics competition being one of 47 categories.

The introduction of Altium Designer has completely transformed the Industrial Engineering division. Because of Altium Designer’s unified environment, competitors can now be tested on both their schematic and PCB design skills in a single competition category. Previous years saw the two processes tested individually.

Standardizing on Altium Designer for the Industrial Electronics competition was an easy decision. Organizers of this worldwide event were inspired by the Japanese team who proved the software’s merit during its national competition in 2006. All 37 competitors were able to quickly adapt to Altium Designer and the new competition requirements.

"It is a challenge for every contestant applying EDA tools for schematic and PCB design. Thanks to the easy-to-use environment of Altium Designer 6, I could focus on winning the gold medal in the national competition."

Akira Shimizu,
Nissan Motor Co. Ltd,
Winner, National Japanese Industrial Electronics Design Competition

"I was impressed that contestants who attended the competition easily navigated Altium Designer and gained all the essential operational skills, despite the short preparation time."

Dr Masayuki Hatta,
Chief Referee of electric circuit assembly, National Skills Competition
