TASKING Restructures Pricing of PowerPC Tool Suite to Seize Market Share

Optimized Tool Suite Reduces Development Time, Providing the Best Price/Performance Ratio

Dedham, MA, JUN 19, 2000 — TASKING, The Embedded Communications Company, announced its strategy to corner a larger share of the PowerPC market through a 30% price reduction that ensures TASKING delivers the most cost-effective performance of any PowerPC tool suite. The PowerPC Tool Suite, V2.1, consisting of a highly efficient compiler optimized for C and C++/EC++ and an accelerated CrossView Pro debugger, improves developer efficiency through optimized code generation, debugging and program performance analysis. These new features, along with graphical data analysis and enhanced register windows, enable developers to achieve the best possible performance from their applications with significantly less development time and development tool cost.

"We are determined to provide clients with the resources they need to meet intense competition. By creating a robust tool suite, totally optimized to meet the needs of communications and networking markets, TASKING offers sophisticated functionality and reduced development time. This new price structure extends our prowess, guaranteeing that TASKING customers achieve the lowest development costs," said Laura Horn, TASKING's Product Marketing Manager for DSP and 32-bit products.

To maximize developer functionality, the PowerPC Tool Suite includes features designed to fully equip the developer with whatever resources are needed to get the job done. In addition to gaining the ability to do flash programming, developers can simulate on their host machine the file I/O performance of the target through file system simulation. Features, such as ROM debug applications, full support of PowerPC on-chip breakpoint unit, code coverage, record and playback of debugging sessions, and C level trace give programmers a host of time-saving options. CrossView Pro also provides kernel-aware debugging for a number of real-time operating systems, giving developers the ability to connect to proprietary real-time operating systems. By bringing this level of functionality to the PowerPC family, TASKING sets the standard for providing integrated I/O performance.
