Protel 99 SP1 インストールメモ

Service Pack Information

Installation Notes
  • To install the Service Pack run the downloaded file and follow the instructions.
  • Compatible with both the licensed and trial versions of Protel 99, but not suitable for Protel 99 SE.
  • The Service Pack modifies the existing Protel 99 files. Do not uninstall the existing installation of Protel 99 before installing the Service Pack
  • To ensure that Protel 99 is not running before installing the Service Pack we recommend that you restart your machine before beginning the installation.
Updates and Enhancements
  • Design Explorer can now be closed during startup by clicking the close button at the top right of the application. Note - Holding the CTRL key as you open a database will stop previously open documents being automatically reopened.
  • Invalid filename characters are automatically detected and rejected. Note - Filename limit is 50 characters, longer names are automatically truncated.
  • File existence is checked when exporting multiple files from a design database.
  • ODBC interface updated to support latest release of the Microsoft ODBC interface. Note - Protel 99 uses V3.5 ODBC drivers. Office 2000 and SQL V7 use V4 drivers. There have been a number of issues with the version 4 drivers - if you have a product that installs version 4 drivers it is recommended that you download the latest driver updates from the Microsoft website.
  • Incorrect OLE registrations now detected and handled - this caused the invalid integer message during startup.
  • Compact and repair dialog updated to gray-out design name field when the "perform compact after close" option is enabled.
  • Linked text documents are no longer copied into the design database as well as being linked.
  • Memory management enhanced.
  • Refreshing of the design tree enhanced.

  • Schematic complex to simple feature implemented. Refer to the Protel 99 FAQs for information on how to create a Complex design in Protel 99.
  • Linking to an external database from a schematic now supported.
  • Schematic Bill of Materials no longer truncates the list of designators.
  • Schematic printer setups are now stored correctly.
  • Schematic component cache upgraded to support different components that have the same name - previously this situation could result in a component changing after editing, or the file being unable to be opened.
  • Default schematic template now being correctly applied when creating a new schematic.
  • Protel 99 translator for OrCAD® DSN files updated to cater for inconsistencies in the source DSN file.
  • On-the-fly editing of schematic Wire attributes now supported.
  • The ASCII schematic library loader has been enhanced to detect hidden objects in library components.
  • Schematic back-annotate feature now looks for the was/is file within the database and updates the schematic correctly.

  • Design synchronizer enhanced to speed up the macro creation phase (this also applies to netlist load).
  • Design synchronizer no longer descends into sheet parts (sheet parts are sub-sheets that descend from a component).

  • Protecting PCB pre-routes has been substantially enhanced - a new "Lock all pre-routes" option has been added to the Autorouter setup dialog. It is no longer necessary to manually lock all pre-routed tracks and vias. Note - Pre-routed arcs are currently not supported.
  • DXF import/export enhanced, with better object handling and numerical precision.
  • PCB paste array enhanced to support automatic designator incrementing for both individual component array paste, and multiple component array paste.
  • Placing tracks in Push mode enhanced - previously it would delete track segments or fail under certain circumstances.
  • Shift+R hotkey added to toggle the Interactive Routing Mode whilst placing a track.
  • Netlist load now correctly recognizes the first line in the netlist. Note - Protel 99 includes a powerful design synchronization feature that transfers design information between the schematic and the PCB, making Netlist creation/loading redundant. Select Update PCB from the schematic menus, or Update Schematic from the PCB menus to use the design synchronizer.
  • Changing the PCB footprint during component placement now supported.
  • Vias are correctly placed while placing arcs and changing layers.
  • Placing a PCB primitive after a batch Gerber import now fully supported.
  • Status Bar shows component Designator after selecting Move»Component in the PCB editor and clicking on a component.
  • PCB documents that include special strings can be opened with the Convert Special Strings option enabled.
  • Invalid layer stack rule correctly detected.
  • Prompt to save the PCB now functioning when net names change during re-synchronization.
  • Update PCB button in the Library Editor now supports lower case characters.
  • PCB zooming has been enhanced to better support zooming in on long connections, this could cause a problem on certain graphics cards.

  • Simulator updated to support the comma character being used as the decimal symbol in the Windows Regional (Country) setting.
  • The IGBT.lib and MOSFET.lib simulation-ready component symbol libraries have been updated. Visit the Protel Library Development Center at www.protel.com to download the SIM99 Library Updates.
  • Creating a blank cell in a simulation results window now fully supported.
  • Circuit simulation waveform text is correctly scaled during printing.
  • The number of test points in a noise simulation now get calculated correctly.
  • Simulation subcircuits that contain a poly statement now netlist correctly.

  • Minor updates to the schematic-to-PLD translator file.
  • PLD device fitters now get called correctly in Windows 95.
  • Mach device fitters updated.
  • Philips device library updated.
