Activating Altium Designer

The following license activation instructions apply to summer 09 or later releases of Altium Designer. For activation of earlier version licenses, click here.

If you are wanting to access a Soft Design license for use with a NanoBoard, refer to the Altium Wiki on Creating a Soft Design license.

Step 1:
To access your license, start the Altium Designer software from the Start menu. You will be taken to the 'My Account' screen where your license configuration and selection is performed. If this page does not appear click on DXP » My Account.

Note: Activation of Standalone licenses can also be performed directly from your web browser using the Altium Account Manager. Access the manager at myaccount.altium.com and sign-in using your Altium Account credentials. For more information, see Managing Licenses – License Activation.

Step 2:
Sign-in to your Altium account. To do this, you will need your Altium Account credentials. If you have not received these details, contact your local Altium Sales and Support Center or Reseller.

Information about your PC hardware is gathered as part of this sign-in process. In order to sign in you will need to agree to this by selecting the checkbox. For more information, see Connecting with Altium.

Step 3:
Once you are signed in, the licenses that are available for you to use will be presented in the 'Available Licenses' section.

Click on the license you wish to use.

If you select an On-Demand license, you have the following options:

  • Click on 'Use' if you wish to use the On-Demand mode
  • Click on 'Roam' if you wish to roam with your On-Demand license. You will need to enter the hours and/or days you wish to retain the license for.

If you select a Standalone license, click on 'Activate' option.

Step 4:
The license you selected will now show 'Used by me'.
