Altium's new software licensing structure and release schedule

Altium helps designers create the next generation of electronic products by providing design solutions that let you focus on innovation, and on accessing emerging technologies. This future is one where device intelligence is at the core of the design process, and the final execution of the design – the way it is deployed – could be in variety of formats ranging from off-the-shelf hardware to a full custom board design.

Device intelligence, enabled by the availability of large scale programmable devices such has FPGAs, is the way of creating true and sustainable differentiation in electronics design. This, coupled with the broader unification of the product design process, heralds an exciting future where all designers can create innovative and connected products in a collaborative way. To reflect the change in the electronic development and cater for both today and tomorrow’s design challenges, Altium has introduced a simplified licensing structure and a regular software release schedule.

New license structure

With the Summer 08 release of Altium Designer, new customers will have the choice of two options – Altium Designer core features or Altium Designer extended features – both of which place design intelligence at the core of the product development process.

The new licensing options are available as a Perpetual or 12-monthly Timed licenses.

New release program

With the Summer 08 release of Altium Designer, new software releases will be available on a regular basis. The new product release program is designed to accelerate the process of bringing major product developments and new device and technology support to our customers.

The result? Confidence in knowing you have access to the latest technology, and a reduced total cost of ownership.

Altium Designer now comes with a 30-day warranty, which guarantees that any software release that occurs within that period is provided free of charge. Product updates will continue to be released as before, which introduce minor product updates with no major features, such as platform or interface changes.
