Schematic-PCB Integration and Library Management
PCB and Schematic document comparators
As well as the existing component and connectivity comparisons, you can now perform a physical comparison between two schematic sheets or two PCBs, detecting changes like a component being moved, or the path of a route being altered.
New Library Report Generator
The new library report generator builds a comprehensive report about all components in the selected library. Reports can be generated for schematic, PCB footprint and integrated libraries. The HTML or DOC format report can be generated from the Schematic Library editor or the PCB footprint editor Report menu, or by right-clicking in the component list in the Libraries panel and selecting Generate Report.
Integrated Library Generation from Project
You can now generate an integrated library from a project. From within a schematic or PCB select Design>>Make Integrated Library.
Direct Component Editing
Components can be edited directly from the Libraries panel, right-click on a component in the component list and select Edit Component, or right-click on a footprint in the Model list section of the panel and select Edit Footprint.
Cross Select Mode
A new Cross Select Mode option has been added to the Tools menu of the Schematic and PCB document editors. When enabled matching components are dynamically selected across opened PCB and Schematic documents.
Component-to-Database Linking
Support is now provided for linking from components in a library to your company database. Add a database link document (DbLink) to your library package, where you can reference the data source, then configure the KeyField linking and the linked data.
Right Click Filter Menu
Queries that have been saved as a Favorite can now easily be accessed from the design environment, right-click during schematic or PCB editing where you will find all your favorites under the Filter option in the context menu.
Navigation options
A new Navigation Page with system wide navigation and highlighting options has been added to the DXP>>Preferences>>DXP System dialog.
New Full Screen Mode
A 'Full Screen' command has been added to View menu of the schematic and PCB document editors.
This mode can also be toggled by double clicking the free space area next to the document tabs or by pressing Alt+F5.
Improved Inspector simplifies global object editing
The functionality of the Inspector panel has been significantly upgraded to allow easy bi-directional movement between a group object, such as a component, and the selected group objects' child properties, such as component comment or designator strings.
Query system improvements
The query-based object filtering system has been made easier to use with the addition of a new Filter panel. This panel separates the query-based filtering system from the List panel display of objects, making selection and editing tasks more efficient.
Improved List editing
The List panel has been upgraded to include new display modes. Across the top of the panel there are four hyperlinked options. The first of these allows you to switch between a view-only mode or an edit mode - in edit mode you can click on a cell and edit it immediately by simply typing. The other options allow you to control what data is displayed in the List.
Inspector panel object type filtering
The ability to display/filter by specific object types has been added to the Schematic and PCB Inspector panels.
Engineering Change Order upgrades
The Engineering Change Order diagnostic processes have been improved, with message information and you can now cross probe from an ECO action and check the affected objects on both the schematic and the PCB.
Improved support for flat designs
If you prefer to present your circuit as a flat design you no longer need to include a top level sheet that contains nothing but sheet symbols. Full design navigation support is retained, once the design is compiled simply Ctrl+double-click on a port to jump across to that port on the other sheet, or select from a popup list if there are multiple targets.
Editing in the List Panel
When editing is allowed in the List Panel, it is now easier to change the state of a checkbox by simply clicking on the checkbox.
Improved Query handling when adding to Favorites
Adding Favorites from the Filter Panel now stores the current Limit Search To (Select, Zoom, DeSelect and Mask Out) settings with the expression.
New Library Search Facility
A new facility has been added to allow parametric- and query-based searches in libraries. The searches can be done while doing other tasks, allowing you to browse and place from the result list while using the search facilities.
List and Filter Panel shortcuts
The shortcut to toggle the List Panel on/off has been changed to Shift+F12. New Filter Panel shortcut is F12.
Improved List Panel performance
The performance of the List Panels have been optimized when handling large data.
Inspector panel color display
Inspector Panel in PCB and Schematic now displays the color separate to the color number making it easier to read the number. This is now consistent with the List Panel
Control over the Libraries panel
You can now control the display of columns in the Libraries panel, right-click and choose Select Columns. Change the order of columns using click and drag on the column headings.
Libraries panel display options
Libraries drop down list is now reordered with Component libraries, Footprint libraries and then 3D libraries.
Interactive Process Help
Pressing F1 when running an interactive process in the PCB or Schematic editors will popup a window describing the active hotkeys and their functionality.
Other Updates
- Filter panel settings for 'Select', 'Zoom', 'Deselect', and 'Mask Out' are now stored between sessions.
- The contents of the panels within the Navigator Workspace Panel are updated following the compilation of a flat project.
- Add/Remove Libraries>>Projects dialog, the 'Add Library...' button is now disabled if there are no projects open.
- The 'STG: Not enough Storage' error message does not occur anymore when placing parts from large integrated libraries.
