Altium's board members

  • Nicholas Martin, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer
    Nick founded Altium Limited in 1985 (known then as Protel International) and has served as an Executive Director from the group's inception, becoming Joint Chief Executive Officer in 2001. Nick has served in his current role of Chief Executive Officer since 2005. It is due to Nick's vision and foresight that Altium is considered a global leader in technology innovation in the electronics design industry. Nick provides the business and technology strategy for the company.
  • Samuel Weiss AB MS FAICD, Non-executive Chairman
    Sam joined the Altium Board as a Non-executive Director on 1 January 2007 and was elected Chairman of the Board on 4 October of that year. Sam is Deputy Chairman of GLG Corp Ltd and a Non-executive Director of Oroton Group Ltd, Breville Group Ltd, IPGA Ltd and Open Universities Pty Ltd. He is a Director and Honorary Treasurer of the Sydney Festival and is President of The Benevolent Society. He brings valuable experience from his previous roles as Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Gateway Computers and Chief Operating Officer for Nike Europe.
  • Kayvan Oboudiyat BE (Hons) GDA FAICD, Executive Vice Chairman
    Kayvan has been a Director since 1997. Originally Kayvan was appointed Managing Director, becoming Chief Executive Officer in 1999 and Joint Chief Executive Officer in 2001. Kayvan has served in his current role of Executive Vice Chairman since 2005.

    Kayvan has played a key role in driving the group's development of new business opportunities. Prior to joining the group, Kayvan spent eleven years with Telstra, including three years as a Senior Executive in the International Business Unit. Kayvan is also the Company Secretary.

  • Carl J Rooke CA, FAICD, Non-Executive Director
    Carl Rooke joined the Board of the Company in 1990 as a Non-executive Director and was appointed Chairman in 1999 a position he held until October 2007. Carl is a former Chairman of Horwath Australia and currently acts as a consultant to BDO Kendalls (TAS) Pty Ltd. Carl is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Company Directors and is also a director on a number of large private company boards. He has many years of proven experience in management, accounting and finance. Carl is also Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
  • Dr David Warren BSc Tas, HonDSc Tas, MAIP, MAICD, Non-executive Director
    Dave has served as a member of the Board since 1991. His work in astronomy led him into the world of software and electronic design where he has since gained more than 30 years experience. After joining Altium's management team in 1987, Dave served as President of Altium's USA operation from 1994 to 1995. Since 1995 he has worked in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, sales and corporate development prior to becoming a Non-executive Board member in 2004. Dave is a Non-executive Board member of Astronomy Australia Ltd, and sits on the boards of various private companies.
  • William Bartee BS MBA JD, Non-executive Director
    Bill was appointed to the Board as a Non-executive Director in 1999. Bill has sixteen years’ experience working with emerging growth technology companies in US venture capital and private equity industries. He is a former Investment Director for Macquarie Technology Ventures and former Chief Executive Officer of Mantara, a messaging software company. Bill is also the Chairman of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee.

  • Aram Mirkazemi BE, Chief of Engineering
    Aram Mirkazemi Aram was appointed Chief of Engineering in November 2010 following the acquisition of Morfik Technology which Aram founded in 2000.

    Originally Aram joined Altium (then known as Protel) in 1991 serving as Director of Research and Development from 1992 until 1999 and as a member of Altium's Board from 1992 to 2000.

    In 2000, Aram left Altium to explore his interest in web based technology and went on to found Morfik Technology.
  • Richard Leon, Chief Financial Officer
    Richard Leon joined Altium in 2008 as Chief Financial Officer. Richard is a chartered accountant and has spent over ten years working as the Asia Pacific regional Finance Director for the US listed organization MRO Software, a leading provider of asset and service management software and consulting and now an IBM company. At Altium Richard is responsible for leading the company’s global finance function and executing effective cost management strategies in accordance with Altium’s financial model.
  • Alan Perkins, Chief Information Officer
    Alan Perkins joined Altium in January 2001 and is responsible for Altium's global business systems and infrastructure. Alan has over 20 years' experience in systems analysis and design and is a sought after industry speaker on how businesses can utilize cloud computing for improved success. Alan recently took an 18 month sabbatical where he consulted widely on system development for a number of companies including Qantas. Alan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Altium's regional management team

  • Martin Harris - Head of Global Field Operations

    Martin Harris joined Altium in 2009 as Vice President - EMEA. Martin has more than 24 years’ experience in the technology sector. Before Altium, he worked in regional director and managing director roles with Autodesk in Asia, as Sales Director with PROCAM Systems Austria, Channel Director at MacFuture Technology RSA, and at Schlumberger Technologies. Most recently, he was with Machine Relationship Management GmbH (MRM) as Chief Sales Officer.

  • Roger Shen - Regional CEO - Greater China

    Roger joins us from the MAXIMO Business Unit of Tivoli Software, part of IBM. Roger joined MRO Software, the company behind the MAXIMO assets management software, in May 1998, became its general manager in Greater China in 1999, and moved with the company to IBM when the latter acquired MRO Software two years ago. He started his career with MRO Software in Sydney before moving back to Shanghai in December 1999.

    Following IBM's acquisition, Roger has exceeded revenue targets, kept the team intact, and won support to expand the MAXIMO business as part of IBM's global "Smart Planet" strategy.

    Earlier in his career, Roger worked with Macquarie Research Limited in Sydney, and was with System Software Associates (SSA) in China for nearly four years.

    Roger has an M.Sc. in Information Systems from the Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from East China Normal University.
