Altium Designer again Embedded System Editor’s choice at EEPW magazine

Altium Designer wins Best Embedded Platform Award 2010

Beijing, China October 20, 2010 - Altium Designer has won the EEPW Embedded System Editor's Choice Award for 2010 in the Embedded Platform category.

This is the second time Altium has won an award with EEPW: in 2009, Altium Designer won the Best Operating System/Software Platform category.

Each year, EEPW magazine selects electronics design products to honor technology breakthroughs in technical performance and to encourage innovation. The jury received applications from more than 40 products related to embedded systems, covering MCU, DSP, FPGA, IP core, processor, embedded operating system and development tools.

Ms Wang Ying, editor-in-chief of EEPW, said, ”With the developments in electronic products design, and with traditional discrete design processes increasingly failing to meet market needs, the unified approach to design inherent in Altium Designer is the inevitable trend. Altium Designer deserved this award for its widely-recognized unified design functions and ease of use. With pioneering thinking and an innovative spirit, Altium products help engineers break through the limitations of traditional design thinking and put innovation into effect. We expect that Altium will continue to provide some of the best design tools for the industry.”

”Since its foundation, Altium has adhered to a philosophy of providing the most advanced and easy-to-use design tools for electronics engineers. That’s why we consistently add to the functions in Altium Designer, to help engineers break through design barriers, better release design potential, and make their dreams come true,” said Roger Shen Regional CEO of Altium Greater China.

“And winning this Award again reflects the strategic importance China has for Altium. It helps us encourage innovation support the transformation from 'Made in China' to 'Designed in China'.”

The current release of Altium Designer introduced a number of new features including custom FPGA logic development for board-level designers; a doubling of mechanical layers; high-level software development using C++; and USB device support.

Information on Altium Designer and new features planned for the forthcoming new release, are on Altium’s web site. More detailed information on Altium Designer is at the Altium Wiki.
