SYDNEY, Australia – October 6, 2010–Australian global success Altium, which makes electronics design software used around the world, is touring the country with a series of engineering workshops in all the major capital cities.
Altium will be meeting with customers in closed sessions in Sydney on the 12th of October 2010.
The tour is hard on the heels of Altium’s plan to acquire fellow Australian software company Morfik Technology, which signals its longer-term objective to help electronics designers expand their role from designing the electronic devices found in most of today’s products, to the more exciting role of designing and engineering web-based "device ecosystems".
These will be groups of devices linked together via the "cloud‟ (Internet-based IT infrastructure such as book seller Amazon’s). Devices will be able to share data, companies will be able to create new software to run on these devices and ecosystems, and users will be able to enjoy new experiences.
Connectivity via mobile phones, laptops and similar mobile devices is familiar. In the future, this connectivity will extend to anything. Altium’s plans to develop a cloud-application development platform for electronics designers so that they can, in the future, create their own "device ecosystems‟ of clever electronic devices, and make this connectivity a reality.
For now, the session in Sydney is on how to help electronics designers create electronic products more cleverly, more quickly, and more confidently, by being able to manage the very complicated design processes in new ways.
