SYDNEY, Australia – 20th September 2010 – Altium CIO Alan Perkins joins renowned journalist and speaker Nicolas Carr in a panel discussion at the World Computer Congress (WCC) this week. The topic of discussion will be “Implications of the Cloud - The Next Frontier”.
Hosted by the International Federation for Information Processing, the Congress combines content from commercial, industry and research sectors to demonstrate innovations in IT and computing on an international stage. Expert presenters will appear from all over the globe to discuss specialist developments and concerns within the computing sector.
Altium has adopted cloud computing tools and infrastructure both to run its business and as the backbone to what it sees as a connected future. The WCC discussion follows Altium’s announcement of its intent to acquire Morfik Technology, a software company which designs products which allow engineers to design and deploy cloud based software programs.
Altium’s objective is to help electronics designers expand their role from designing the electronics in devices to the larger role of designing and engineering cloud-based "device ecosystems‟. As discussed in the paper “What’s Next For Electronics Devices?” these ecosystems will consist of the actual electronic devices, connected via the Internet, along with cloud-based software applications that run on this platform.
