Welcome to the AutoRFQ facility for Protel 99 SE Thank you for downloading the AutoRFQ facility for Protel 99 SE. This facility enables the PCB editor to link directly to the WebQuote/PCB Market Place facility. This facility, based online, enables a PCB designer to effectively request quotes from various companies, for the manufacture of a finished board design. ============================================================================== 2. Notes on Installing the AutoRFQ facility Close Protel 99 SE before installing the AutoRFQ facility. Then run the self-extracting executable AutoRFQ.exe and follow the steps below: 1) The AutoRFQ Setup dialog launches, with the Welcome page, telling you that AutoRFQ will be installed and that any Windows programs should be shut down before proceeding. Click Next> when ready to proceed. 2) The End User License Agreement page appears. Read through the terms of the license. If you agree with the terms, click Yes to proceed with the installation. If not, click No, whereby the Setup dialog will close and the installation process will be terminated. 3) The Choose Destination Location page appears. Use the Browse button if you wish to select a folder other than the default and then click Next> to continue. 4) The Setup Type page appears. Choose the installation type you require, either Typical or Custom and then click Next> to proceed. 5) The Select Program Folder page appears. Choose which folder you want program icons to be installed to. The default is Protel 99 SE, but you can enter a new folder name or choose from the list of existing folders. Click Next> to continue. 6) The Start Copying Files page appears. Either click on the to begin copying files. 7) The installation progress is shown, followed by the Setup Complete page. Click Finish to complete the Setup process. The following files are installed in the Design Explorer 99 SE\System folder: AutoRFQ.exe - The AutoRFQ application SaveRFQ.DLL - The SaveRFQ Server SaveRFQ.INS SaveRFQ.RCS The following file is installed in the Design Explorer 99 SE\Help folder: SaveRFQ.hlp - The online help file for the AutoRFQ facility ============================================================================= 3. Notes on un-installing the AutoRFQ facility To successfully un-install the AutoRFQ facility, you must first remove the SaveRFQ server and then remove AutoRFQ using the Windows Add/Remove Programs dialog (from the Windows Control Panel). ============================================================================== 4. Getting Started with the AutoRFQ facility To launch the AutoRFQ facilty and therefore link directly to the WebQuote site, perform the following steps from within your design: 1) Select Tools>>Request Quotation from the PCB editor main menus. 2) From the Create RFQ File dialog that appears, determine the name and location for the .rfq file. This file will contain the necessary information for the WebQuote facility, extracted from your design. By default, the .rfq file name will be entered as that of the PCB design and the location will be the same directory/folder as that of the parent Design Database. 3) When you have chosen the name and location for the .rfq file, click the Save button. The AutoRFQ application opens with a sub-window containing information that has been loaded from the .rfq file that you have just generated. The sub-window uses the .rfq filename as its title. Note ----- If you are using the AutoRFQ facility for the first time, you will have to register as part of the initial launch. For further information, see the help file SaveRFQ.hlp in the Design Explorer 99 SE\Help folder. To do this from the PCB editor, press F1 when the Request Quotation command is highlighted in the Tools menu. ============================================================================== 5. Known Issues and Limitations * Performing the following sequence of steps from within your PCB design can result in a Design Explorer error message: 1) Select Tools>>Request Quotation 2) Close the resulting Create RFQ File dialog 3) Selecte File>>Export 4) Close the resulting Export File dialog 5) Select Tools>>Request Quotation again The error message received is as follows: "Cannot run ExportFile Either server has not been installed or insufficient resources to load server" When this error occurs, it is not possible to stop the SaveRFQ server and start again. You must close down the Protel 99 SE application and launch a fresh instance of the software. ============================================================================== 6.
