TASKING's Latest Tool Suite Maximizes Capability of Infineon
TriCore Unified Processor V1.3Tool Suite Delivers Advanced Functionality for
Communications Applications
Dedham, MA, August 7, 2000 — TASKING, The
Embedded Communications Company, announced the latest
release of the TriCore Tool Suite, V1.1r2, the only tool suite
currently available for system development using the latest version
of Infineon Technologies' 32-bit TriCore Unified
Processor core and standard products based on merged MCU/DSP
architecture. The new release of TASKING's TriCore Tool Suite
provides support for the TC1775 automotive controller and boosts
programmer capability and efficiency by providing an enhanced
TriCore Assembler to support the improved peripheral control
processor (PCP2), floating point unit and memory management unit
introduced in the TriCore Unified Processor V1.3 architectural
upgrade. With these enhancements, developers are well equipped to
implement advanced embedded designs for telecommunications,
automotive engine control and industrial computer control
applications.
"With the latest release of its tool
suite, TASKING reinforces its support for high-performance, DSP-related
applications, which the TriCore architecture is designed to
address," says Tony Webster, Vice President of the Cores
and Modules Group at Infineon Technologies. "By creating
tools that make full use of the architectural enhancements in the
TriCore Unified Processor architecture, TASKING enables the
developer to focus on application development right away, increasing
developer efficiency and reducing time to market." "TASKING has made a solid commitment to
meet the embedded communications needs of developers," says
Brian Mulcahey, TASKING Vice President of Worldwide Corporate
Marketing. "That's why we are excited about the enhanced
peripheral control processor, higher clock speeds, and the new MMU
and FPU support in the V1.3 of the TriCore architecture, which
provides the powerful resources needed by developers of high-end
communications and complex control applications. The enhancements in
the TriCore architecture and in our tool suite exemplify the ongoing
commitment that TASKING and Infineon both have to provide superior
tool support for embedded communications developers." Understanding the need to simplify the complexity
of debugging high-end applications, TASKING enhanced the analytical
capabilities of its CrossView Pro debugger to enable it to work with
a cycle-accurate TriCore instruction set simulator. To provide
increased functionality and efficiency, TASKING has improved its
TriCore Tool Suite, which includes TASKING's Embedded Development
Environment, optimized C and C++/EC++ compilers and CrossView Pro
Debugger, with various code-generation optimizations, bit data type
support and eased Linker/Locator configuration.
Availability:
The TASKING TriCore Tool Suite, V1.1r2 is available now on Windows
95/98/NT and Sun/Solaris. Existing TriCore customers with a
maintenance contract may upgrade to this release free of charge. A
demo version of the TriCore Tool Suite will be available soon from
the products area of TASKING's web site (www.tasking.com/products/TriCore),
