Altium Designer Standalone Licenses
Standalone licenses are limited to the single site license type and can only be used by one user or workstation. According to the EULA, Altium does allow a temporary install of the standalone license file on a laptop or home computer for temporary usage. With a Standalone license you don’t need internet access, the only time you need to sign in to your Altium account (through the Altium portal), is when you initially activate the license through Altium Designer or if you are also leveraging the extended features available with an Altium 365® subscription.

The Activate Standalone License dialog — Standalone licenses are installed locally onto the computer by activating the license through the user’s AltiumLive account, or downloading the *.alf license file from the AltiumLive Dashboard and adding it in the License Management view in Altium Designer.

“In the past, we used GitHub as a way to share our libraries but, of course, it was up to the user to synchronize those libraries. Whereas, with Altium and especially Altium 365, we have the possibility to store everything in a centralized library that is immediately updated and versioned.”
