KB: Windchill Driver License Error When Loading PLM Integration Configuration
Updated: 八月 26, 2026
Users may receive the error No valid license for 'windchill' driver available when loading or creating a PLM Integration configuration. The PLM Integration page may also display Driver = [$plmManagement.driverList.undefined$]. Although the error appears to indicate a Windchill licensing issue, it can occur after an Altium On-Prem Enterprise Server (AES) upgrade when the server does not correctly recognize the licensed PLM integration functionality. Refreshing the AES license, or removing and re-adding the license, typically resolves the issue.

Solution Details
Windchill Driver Error During PLM Configuration
The following error may be displayed when loading or creating a PLM Integration configuration:
No valid license for 'windchill' driver available
The PLM Integration page may also display:
Driver = [$plmManagement.driverList.undefined$]
This can occur after upgrading Altium On-Prem Enterprise Server (AES), even when the Windchill server is accessible and the license appears valid.
PLM License Features Not Refreshed
Despite referencing the Windchill driver, the issue can be caused by AES not correctly recognizing licensed PLM integration functionality after an upgrade. As a result, supported PLM drivers such as Windchill may not appear as available options on the PLM Integration page.
Refresh Or Re-Add The AES License
- Verify that the AES server can connect to the Windchill server.
- Refresh the AES server license.
- If the issue persists, remove the license and add it again.
- Confirm that Windchill is available on the PLM Integration page before retrying the configuration.
Restore Windchill Driver Availability
- Open the AES administration interface.
- Navigate to Licenses.
- Refresh the existing server license.
- Open the PLM Integration page and verify that Windchill is available.
- If the error remains, remove the existing license.
- Re-add the license.
- Return to PLM Integration and confirm that Windchill is listed as an available PLM system.
- Retry loading the XML configuration file.
