Modified by Susan Riege on Jul 7, 2017

The Show/Hide tab of the View Configurations dialog.

Summary

This tab of the View Configurations dialog allows the designer to configure the mode used to display each of the various design items within the workspace.

Access

This is one of four tabs available for a 2D view configuration – accessed from within the View Configurations dialog. This dialog can be accessed from both the PCB Editor and the PCB Library Editor, in the following ways:

  • In 2D Layout Mode, choose the Design » Board Layers & Colors command (PCB Editor), or choose the Tools » Layers & Colors command (PCB Library Editor).
  • Press the L key.
To access 2D view-related tabs, either ensure the workspace is in 2D Layout Mode prior to accessing the dialog, or select a 2D configuration in the Select PCB View Configuration region, once the dialog is accessed.
The Show/Hide tab can also be accessed directly, by choosing the Options » Show/Hide command from the workspace's right-click context menu. The keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D is also available.

Options/Controls

Each of the following types of design primitive can be independently controlled with respect to their on-screen display mode: Arcs, Fills, Pads, Polygons, Dimensions, Strings, Tracks, Vias, Coordinates, Rooms, Regions and 3D Bodies. Three modes are available, choose which mode is active as required:

  • Final - display design objects of this type using outline and fill.
  • Draft - display design objects of this type using outline only.
  • Hidden - do not display design objects of this type.

The following buttons are available to quickly manipulate the display mode for multiple object types:

  • All Final - quickly set the display mode for all object types to Final.
  • All Draft - quickly set the display mode for all object types to Draft.
  • All Hidden - quickly set the display mode for all object types to Hidden.
  • Shown Final - quickly set the display mode for all object types that are not currently hidden to Final.
  • Shown Draft - quickly set the display mode for all object types that are not currently hidden to Draft.
  • Toggle Shown - quickly toggle the display mode for all object types that are not currently hidden between Final and Draft as applicable.

Additional Options

  • Show Embedded Board Arrays – enable this option to show placed embedded board arrays in the workspace. Disable to hide these objects from the workspace.
  • Show Design Views – enable this option to show placed design views in the workspace. Disable to hide these objects from the workspace.
  • From To Settings – click this button to access the From To Display Settings dialog, from where you can set the way From To connections and pad electrical types are displayed. The settings in the dialog apply only to From Tos and/or pads that have topologies or connections specifically set via the PCB panel's From-To Editor.
