Configuring and Animating the bending of a PCB that is entirely Flex

Starting in Version: 18.0
Up to Version: Current

Solution Details

Configure and Animate the bending of a PCB that is entirely Flex

In order to add Bending Lines to a PCB in Board Planning Mode and animate the bending of a PCB in 3D Mode; it is required that there is at least one Layer Stack Region that is Rigid where 3D Locked is enabled.

To fulfill this requirement, create two identical Sub-Stacks in the Layer Stack Manager where one is Flex enabled and the other is Rigid where Flex is not enabled. When making use of Custom Bikini Coverlays your Sub-Stack will not be identical though Custom Overlays in the Flex Sub-Stack will Equal the standard Solder Mask Layers in the Rigid Sub-Stack per the 3D output.

By assigning the Duplicate Rigid Sub-Stack to a small portion at an end of the board that makes the most sense, you can then begin adding and configuring Bending Lines that can be animated in 3D View.
