PCB Select and Dimming

This article discusses the ways you can affect Dimming, Masking, Zooming, and whether objects get selected in the document workspace when they are selected in the PCB panel lists.

Solution Details

Here's documentation for the PCB panel:
At the top of the PCB panel, there is a drop down menu (pull down list) to select from Normal, Mask, or Dim.  Changes will take effect for the next item you click in the lists below or you can click the "Apply" button that is just above the pull down list.  You can read this section of the  documentation for more detail:

If you choose Dim, the Dimming level can be changed in Preferences System Navigation Highlight Methods section. Here's the section of the document that has pictures:
There are also Mask and Dim Settings in the View Options tab of the View Configuration Panel.  Expand the "Mask and Dim Settings" in this documentation for more detail:
Notice that there are check boxes for Select, Zoom, and Clear Existing.  You can read detail about their functionality here:

The zoom level can be changed with the "Zoom Level…" button which is just above the zoom option check box.  This will affect a change in the Preferences in the same place as Dimming (see above.)
