Copy Filter Text

Applied Parameters: Action=Copy

Summary

This command is used to copy the selected query expression text from the Filter panel to the clipboard.

Access

With the required text selected, this command can be accessed from the PCB Editor and the PCB Library Editor by:

Right-clicking within the Filter region of the Filter panel - either PCB Filter panel (PCB Editor), or PCBLIB Filter panel (PCB Library Editor) - and choosing the Copy command from the context menu.
Using the Ctrl+C keyboard shortcut.

Use

First, select the text that you wish to copy - all or part of the current query expression presented in the Filter region of the Filter panel.

After launching the command, the text will be copied to the clipboard, and can be used elsewhere within, or outside of, Altium Designer.

Tips

The copied text is added to the Clipboard panel. The panel can store a number of objects that can be added (pasted) to various document types within Altium Designer at any stage, allowing for multiple copy/paste operations.
The Clipboard panel supports a variety of data formats, depending on the origin and object type. It can be set to display either only objects copied or cut from within the Altium Designer environment, or the entire Windows clipboard - controlled by the Monitor clipboard content within this application only option, on the System - General page of the Preferences dialog. Be aware that not all data types are supported by each design editor (PCB Editor, Schematic Editor, etc), and that objects that are not supported will not be pasted.
Clipboard panel content is not persistent across design sessions. All content will be cleared when the software is closed and restarted.

Cut Filter Text

Applied Parameters: Action=Cut

Summary

This command is used to clear the selected query expression text from the Filter panel, and copy it to the clipboard.

Access

With the required text selected, this command can be accessed from the PCB Editor and the PCB Library Editor by:

Right-clicking within the Filter region of the Filter panel - either PCB Filter panel (PCB Editor), or PCBLIB Filter panel (PCB Library Editor) - and choosing the Cut command from the context menu.
Using the Ctrl+X keyboard shortcut.

Use

First, select the text that you wish to cut - all or part of the current query expression presented in the Filter region of the Filter panel.

After launching the command, the text will be removed from the panel and copied to the clipboard. It can then be used elsewhere within, or outside of, Altium Designer.

Paste Filter Text

Applied Parameters: Action=Paste

Summary

This command is used to paste text from the clipboard, into the Filter region of the Filter panel.

Access

With the required text available on the clipboard, this command can be accessed from the PCB Editor and the PCB Library Editor by:

Right-clicking within the Filter region of the Filter panel - either PCB Filter panel (PCB Editor), or PCBLIB Filter panel (PCB Library Editor) - and choosing the Paste command from the context menu.
Using the Ctrl+V keyboard shortcut.

Use

First, ensure the text that you wish to paste is available on the clipboard. This can be text on the Windows clipboard, or a selected text object on the Clipboard panel. Also ensure the text cursor is located at the desired paste location, within the Filter region of the Filter panel.

After launching the command, the text will be pasted into the region, at the current text cursor location.
