Summary

This command is used to change the name of the active component in the current document.

Access

This command can be accessed from the Schematic Library Editor only by choosing the Tools » Rename Component command from the main menus.

Use

First ensure that the component that you wish to rename is selected in the Components list in the SCH Library panel (and is therefore the active component in the main design window).

After launching the command, the New Component Name dialog will appear, from where you can change the name for the component. The name change will be reflected back in the SCH Library panel.

Tips

The name of a component can also be changed directly in the SCH Library panel. Select the required component in the Components list, then press the Edit button immediately below the list. In the Library Component Properties dialog that appears, change the name in the Symbol Reference field.
