Summary

This command is used to place a Bus Entry object onto the active document. A bus entry is an electrical design primitive that is used to connect a wire to a bus line. It has the ability to allow two different nets to connect to the same point on a bus, if this was done using wires the two nets would short. If this capability is not required, bus entries do not need to be used.

Access

Bus entries are available for placement in the Schematic Editor only, by:

• Choosing Place » Bus Entry from the main menus.
• Clicking the  button on the Wiring toolbar.
• Right-clicking and choosing Place » Bus Entry from the context menu.

Use

After launching the command, the cursor will change to a cross-hair and you will enter bus entry placement mode.

1. Click or press Enter to place a bus entry at the cursor position.
2. Press Spacebar to rotate the bus entry anticlockwise (in steps of 90°), press Shift+Spacebar to rotate clockwise.
3. Press the X or Y keys while in placement mode to mirror the bus entry along the X-axis or Y-axis respectively.
4. Continue placing bus entries or right-click or press Esc to exit placement mode.

Tips

1. For information on how a placed bus entry object can be modified graphically, directly in the workspace, see Graphical Editing.
2. While attributes can be modified during placement (Tab to bring up associated properties dialog), bear in mind that these will become the default settings for further placement unless the Permanent option on the Schematic – Default Primitives page of the Preferences dialog is enabled. When this option is enabled, changes made will affect only the object being placed and subsequent objects placed during the same placement session.

Summary

Access

This command is available in the Schematic Editor only, but only when right-clicking over an existing placed bus entry object, and choosing the Bus Entry command from the context menu.

Use

1. Click or press Enter to place a bus entry at the cursor position.
2. Press Spacebar to rotate the bus entry anticlockwise (in steps of 90°), press Shift+Spacebar to rotate clockwise.
