Summary

A Draftsman Transmission Line Table is a table object that is populated with layer structure and calculated impedance data drawn from the Layer Stack Manager. Transmission Line impedance calculations that apply to all active Impedance Profiles are included in the table. The table's visual style is configurable in the Properties panel.

Availability

A Transmission Line Table is available for placement in a Draftsman document in the following ways:

  • Choose the Place » Transmission Line Table command from the main menu.
  • Click the Transmission Line Table entry () in the table objects drop-down menu on the Active Bar located at the top of the design space. Click and hold an Active Bar button to access other related commands. Once a command has been used, it will become the topmost item on that section of the Active Bar.
  • Right-click in the drawing design space then select Place » Transmission Line Table from the context menu.
  • Click the Transmission Line Table () entry in the tables drop-down menu () on the Drawing Annotations toolbar (click View » Toolbars » Drawing Annotations to enable).
The default settings for the Transmission Line Structure Table are available in the Draftsman - Defaults page of the Preferences dialog.

Placement

After launching the Transmission Line Table placement command a new table object, populated with Layer and Impedance data is drawn from the board Layer Stack, is attached to the cursor. Move the cursor to the desired position then click to confirm the placement.

To retrieve the current/latest data from the Layer Stack use the Tools » Update Board command.

Graphical Editing

The position of a placed Transmission Line Table may be graphically changed by selecting within the table object and then dragging it to a new location. Note that the table cannot be graphically resized, but will automatically scale to accommodate the font and column properties specified in the Properties panel.

Non-Graphical Editing

The non-graphical method of editing a Transmission Line Table is available in the Draftsman Properties panel, which provides a range of editable properties and style settings for placed Draftsman objects.

To open the Properties panel and access the properties of a placed Transmission Line Table:

  • After selecting the Transmission Line Table object, select the Properties panel from the Panels button at the bottom right of the design space or select View » Panels » Properties from the main menus.
  • Double-click on the Transmission Line Table object in the design space.
  • Right-click on the Transmission Line Table then select Item Properties from the context menu.

If the Properties panel is already active, click on the Transmission Line Table object to access its properties in the panel.

The Transmission Line Table properties can be accessed prior to entering placement mode from the Draftsman - Defaults page of the Preferences dialog. This allows the default properties for the Transmission Line Table object to be changed, which will be applied when placing subsequent Transmission Line Tables.

Editing Multiple Objects

The Properties panel supports multiple object editing, where the property settings that are identical in all currently selected objects can be modified.
