The ATMEGA88 electronic integrated circuit, is a high performance, low power AVR® 8-bit microcontroller. The great thing about Atmel microcontrollers in this line is they similar instruction sets. If an engineer learns the instruction sets from one of their microprocessors, this knowledge is transferable to other microcontrollers in the line.
However, in order to take advantage of the benefits the ATMEGA88 provides, you need a high performance software to pair it with. Altium is just the platform. With the larger micro controllers, integrated circuit simulation isn’t necessarily practical. There are always a few smaller critical elements, however, where you need to make sure your circuit will work during design in the analog realm.
With Altium Designer, you can still perform integrated circuit simulation which will:
Save time on PCB prototyping
Save money on components and and PCB spins
Allow a second look to make sure you know how a circuit will behave
