A printed circuit board (PCB) room is a primitive design object. This region assists in the placement or connection of components. Rectangular or polygon-type rooms can be placed on either the top or bottom layer of the board. They can be either be placed empty or placed around components in the design that automatically associate them to the room. In Altium Designer, rooms are available for placement/creation in the PCB Editor only.
In Altium Designer 18, in the PCB Editor, rooms can be placed directly or you can create them from selected components. From room placement, graphical editing, changing the room shape or location, slicing rooms, and room wrapping, Altium Designer has it all. For each room that is placed or created an associated Room Definition design rule is also added. One of the big perks of auto-interactive routing is that it will route traces using the design rules that you currently have set-up.
With Altium Designer 18, you have the advantages of:
Auto-Interactive Routing - you tell it where to go, along which guide path, and it routes in the same method you would have done it manually
