Linking Models, Parameters and Libraries
An electronics design is a collection of connected components. Engineers and designers have to connect these components to complete their project. The component purchased and soldered onto a PCB is the real component, but those components need to have models in each design domain. Linking those models with parameters and saving them in libraries can be tedious if you aren’t using the right software.
There are three approaches to creating a component, and Altium Designer can handle each one easily:
You can link each model-kind to the schematic symbol and add suitable parameters. The symbol then becomes the component.
You can use a database library, where each record is a component, referencing the required parametric data and models. The model links and parameters are added to the symbol during placement, turning it into a standard Altium Designer component.
You can use an Altium Vault. With an Altium Vault, the models and parameters are brought together as a Vault component, complete with live links to supplier data, and can be saved and reused in future projects.
Altium Designer offers all the latest design tools and allows you to access all the common libraries, as well as an Altium Vault. To explore all of our great features in more detail, download a free software trial today.
