The following pre-packaged resource, derived from this base command, is available:
Change View Configuration
Applied Parameters: Kind=PCBView
Summary
Use this feature to quickly switch the active View Configuration for the current document. A View Configuration is a saved snapshot of configured display settings, which can be either 2D or 3D. A 2D View Configuration is used to configure and enable the special layers and the system layers. It is also used to control the display state of each object type (Full, Draft, or Hidden), as well as various additional display and transparency options. A 3D View Configuration is used to configure how the board is rendered in 3D.
Access
This feature is available in the PCB Editor (from the PCB Standard toolbar) and the PCB Library Editor (from the PCB Lib Standard toolbar) in either 2D or 3D viewing mode.
Accessing the Change View Configuration feature from the Standard toolbar in PCB and PCB Library Editors.
Use
Use the drop-down field to choose the required View Configuration. The workspace will change accordingly based on the configured properties of the chosen View Configuration. If you are currently in 2D viewing mode and choose a 3D View Configuration, the workspace will be placed in 3D viewing mode. Conversely, choosing a 2D View Configuration while currently viewing the board in 3D will place the board in 2D viewing mode.
Tips
- The drop-down field contains all saved View Configurations that are listed in the RegisteredViewConfigurations.ini file. This file resides in the \Users\<ProfileName>\AppData\Roaming\Altium\Altium Designer <GUID>\ViewConfigurations folder for a default installation of the software. This folder also contains the default 2D and 3D View Configurations shipped with the software.
- The active View Configuration can also be changed from the drop-down field associated to the Configuration field in the General Settings section on the View Options tab of the View Configuration panel. Select the required configuration - application is immediate.
