Applied Parameters: TemplateSource=Project
Summary
This command is not a command in the usual sense, but rather gives access to a sub-menu of currently available schematic templates for the active project. You can then change the template as required, from those available, and apply to the active schematic document, all schematics in the active project, or all open schematic documents (irrespective of the project to which they belong). A schematic template (*.SchDot) is a document that holds user-defined sheet size, border and title block descriptions, that can be referenced by (linked to) a schematic sheet, thereby negating the need to define these common attributes again and again.
Access
Project templates are available from the Design » Templates » Project Templates sub-menu.
The menu will only present templates that are currently available along the path specified in the
Schematic Template Location field on the
Options tab of the
Project Options dialog. The path to templates also may be defined through the
Manage Templates Folder commands available from the
Design » Templates menu.
The menu will be disabled when you are signed into a
managed content server and one or more
Managed Schematic Templates have been shared with your User account – see the
Configuration Templates command on this page. Also, if an
environment configuration is in force, the menu will be disabled when revisions of Schematic Template Items have been defined as part of that configuration.
Use
Choose the required template to use from those available on the sub-menu. The Update Template dialog will appear. Use this dialog to determine the scope of the update, both in terms of which schematic documents are to use this template, and how parametric information (typically defined in the template's title block region) is handled.
After clicking OK, the template will be applied to the schematic(s) and an information dialog will appear, summarizing how many documents have been set to the template. Project Template settings apply to, and are saved with, the current project.
Tips
- When applying the template to all schematic documents in the current project, all documents that are currently closed will be opened as the update is made.
- The schematic template currently being used by the active schematic document, can be seen in the Page Options section, on the General tab of the Properties panel, when no objects are currently selected in the design workspace.
