The following pre-packaged resource, derived from this base command, is available:
Move To Front
Applied Parameters: None
Summary
This command is used to reposition an object at the front of all other objects in the drawing stack in the current document. The Schematic Editor/Schematic Library Editor automatically stacks objects, text and graphics in layers. Each object is on a different layer depending on the creation order and, therefore, it is possible to place objects so that they overlap. The objects created or added recently are always on the top layer.
Access
This command can be accessed from the Schematic Editor and the Schematic Library Editor by:
- Choosing the Edit » Move » Move To Front command from the main menus.
- Locating and using the Move To Front command on the Active Bar.
If the command has been recently used from the Active Bar, it will become the active/visible button. Where other commands are available, this is indicated by a triangle at the bottom-right corner of the button. Click and hold on the active button to access a menu of all associated commands for that grouping.
Use
After launching the command, the cursor will change to a crosshair and you will enter movement mode. Movement is made by performing the following sequence of actions:
- Position the cursor over the object in the design that is to be moved then click or press Enter.
- The object will appear floating on the cursor. Move the object to the required position then click or press Enter to effect placement. The object will be at the top of the stack in front of all other overlapping objects.
- Continue moving further objects, or right-click or press Esc to exit.
Additional actions (where applicable) that can be performed during movement – while the object is still floating on the cursor - are:
- Press the Alt key to constrain the direction of movement to the horizontal or vertical axis depending on the initial direction of movement.
- Press the Spacebar to rotate the object counterclockwise or Shift+Spacebar for clockwise rotation. Rotation is in increments of 90°.
- Press the X or Y keys to mirror the object along the X-axis or Y-axis respectively.
Tips
- When selecting the object, if you click on an area where multiple possible objects overlap, a pop-up will appear containing all overlapping objects from which you can make your choice.
