Applied Parameters: None
Summary
This command is used to toggle the fitted/not fitted state of one or more components, on the active physical schematic sheet, and for the active Design Variant.
Access
This command is accessed from the Schematic Editor. First ensure that the required variant for the design is chosen, from the Variants folder for the project, in the Projects panel.
When variants have been defined for a project, a Variants folder will be added to the Projects panel for that project. The folder contains entries for the base design ([No Variations]), as well as all variants you have defined. The current variant is displayed in bold, white text. To make any listed variant the current variant, you can either double-click the desired variant in the panel, or right-click the desired variant and choose Set as current.
With the applicable physical sheet for the circuit made active - the relevant Compiled View tab, and not the Editor tab - click the button on the Active Bar.
Use
After launching the command, the cursor will change to a cross-hair, and you will enter toggle mode. Simply click on a placed component to toggle its state from Fitted to Not Fitted, or vice-versa. When Not Fitted, the component will appear with overlay graphics, as defined in the Variant Options dialog (for example, a red cross).
Continue toggling the Fitted/Not Fitted state of further components on the sheet, or right-click, or press Esc, to exit toggle mode.
Tips
- To examine design variations, you must compile the design and then switch to the compiled tab of the schematic.
- Before you can create a variant, you first create the original design, which is referred to as the base design. Working from the base design, you then go through a process of configuring the components to be: Fitted; Fitted with varied parameters; Not Fitted; or to use an Alternate Part. Management of design variants is performed primarily within the Variant Management dialog.
