KB: RSP Authentication Error After Adding New Workspace Member
At a Glance
Solution Details
New Workspace Member Cannot Sign In
A newly added workspace member is unable to access the workspace and is presented with an authentication error page displaying an astronaut image and the message “Authentication – an unexpected problem has occurred.” The issue may continue even after the user account has been deleted and re-added.
The affected user may also see “Requirements Portal” in the upper-left corner of the page, while other users accessing the same URL see “Altium 365 workspace.”

Inactive Collaborator Blocks Authentication
The user is present in the Requirements & Systems Portal collaborator list but is marked as inactive. The Active field on the Settings » Collaborators page determines whether a collaborator can access Requirements & Systems Portal. Although the account exists and the invitation process has been completed, authentication fails until the collaborator is reactivated.
Reactivate the Collaborator and Retry
- Verify that the affected user is listed in the Requirements & Systems Portal collaborators.
- Confirm that the collaborator's Active status is set to true.
- Have the user sign in using an incognito browser session to ensure cached credentials do not affect authentication.
Update the Collaborator Status
- Open Settings in Requirements & Systems Portal.
- Open the Collaborators list.
- Search for the affected user.
- Locate the Active column in the user's row.
- Double-click the value and change it from false to true.
- Confirm the user now appears as active.
- Ask the user to sign in using an incognito browser window and enter their credentials.

Additional Notes
The appearance of “Requirements Portal” instead of “Altium 365 workspace” can be an indicator that the affected user is experiencing this authentication issue.
