KB: Empty Project Release Caused by Output Path Configuration
Updated: September 09, 2026
If a project release completes but produces an empty release package or does not generate expected OutJob content, the configured output location may be preventing release data from being written successfully. This can occur when the Output Path or ECO Log Path points to a location that is inaccessible or located on a different drive from the local project. Updating these paths to an accessible folder on the same drive as the local project can allow the Project Releaser to generate the expected release files.

Solution Details
Project Release Appears Empty After Completion
A project release may complete successfully, but the generated release package appears empty or expected custom OutJob outputs are missing.

Output Files Cannot Be Written Successfully
This issue is suspected to be related to the configured output directory. If Altium cannot reliably access or write to the specified output location, release artifacts may not be generated in the expected location. Because these path settings are stored within the project, the issue can continue until the configuration is updated.
Use Accessible Project Output Locations
- Update the output path to a local folder.
- Use an output location that is accessible to the current user.
- Ensure the Output Path and ECO Log Path are located on the same drive as the local project.
- Verify that the required OutJob configurations exist and are configured correctly.
Update Output Path Configuration
- Open the project.
- Right-click the project and select Explore, then note the project file location.

- Open Project Options by selecting Project » Project Options, or right-click the project in the Projects panel and select Project Options.

- Select the Options tab.
- Update the Output Path and ECO Log Path so they point to folders on the same drive as the local project.

- Save the changes.
- Run the project release again.
