Realms

A realm is a named, isolated logical instance of Altium 365. Every Workspace belongs to exactly one realm, and all data within that Workspace is stored and processed within it.

Why Realms Exist

Altium 365 operates across multiple geographies and deployment models. Historically, the term region was used to refer to a single instance of Altium 365 per geography – one for Europe, one for the US, and so on. That mapping no longer holds: each geography can host multiple independent logical instances alongside the commercial SaaS offering. The term realm was introduced to unambiguously refer to one such instance.

Dedicated Realms

In addition to the commercial offering, Altium 365 operates dedicated realms for specific requirements:

Single-Tenant Environments

A Single-Tenant Environment (STE) is a dedicated, isolated Altium 365 realm provisioned for strict data segregation and compliance. STEs share the same platform capabilities as the commercial offering but run on dedicated infrastructure, separate from the shared multi-tenant environment.

An STE is its own realm – Workspaces within an STE are isolated from all other realms, including the commercial regions.

Realms and the API

The realm a Workspace belongs to determines which endpoints you use:

• Workspace endpoint – implicitly tied to the realm via the Workspace domain ({workspace-domain}.altium.com). The correct realm is resolved automatically.

• Regional endpoints – scoped to a realm. Use these when querying across Workspaces within a realm, or when no specific Workspace is in scope (e.g., listing all Workspaces a user has access to).
