Modified by Susan Riege on Jul 15, 2017

The Convert Schematic Sheet to Device Sheet dialog

SUMMARY

This dialog allows you to convert a schematic sheet to a device sheet.

ACCESS

In the schematic editor, click Edit » Refactor » Convert Selected Schematic Sheet To Device Sheet from the main menus or right-click on a standard sheet symbol then choose Refactor » Convert Schematic Sheet To Device Sheet.

OPTIONS/CONTROLS

Target Device Sheet Location - A Device Sheets folder is automatically created within the project folder. By default, Device Sheets are saved to the Device Sheets folder. Click the  button at the end of this field to open the Choose Device Sheet Folder dialog to select a different target location for the new device sheet.

Note that the last target location (not including the file name) is remembered in this dialog. If you change the path from the default, the new path is remembered the next time you open the dialog.
As well as managing the Device Sheet folders through the Choose Device Sheet Folder dialog (and the subsequent Device Sheet Folders dialog that can be opened from there), designers can manage Device Sheet Folder locations directly from the Data Management - Device Sheets page of the Preferences dialog.

Mode

  • Convert Schematic Sheet and update all relevant sheet symbols in the current project - choose to convert the currently selected sheet symbol to a device sheet symbol and create a new Device Sheet in the target location. All the relevant sheet symbols in the current project are updated. This option is enabled by default.
  • Convert Schematic Sheet and update all relevant sheet symbols in the current workspace - choose to convert the currently selected sheet symbol to a device sheet symbol and create a new Device Sheet in the target location. All the relevant sheet symbols in the current workspace are updated.
  • Create device sheet from schematic sheet and update ony the current sheet symbol - choose to convert the currently selected sheet symbol to a device sheet symbol and create a new Device Sheet in the target location. The current sheet symbol is updated only. This option is disabled by default.

Additional Options

  • Compile projects(s) after conversion - enable to compile the project after conversion. If you have converted sheets in your workspace, all projects in the current workspace will be compiled.
Your last selection for this compile option is remembered. If you change this option, the new setting is remembered the next time you open the dialog.
