The following pre-packaged resources, derived from this base command, are available:

Applied Parameters: Action=Start

Summary

This command is used to enter editing mode for the currently selected part (PCB) in the active Multi-board Assembly document (*.MbaDoc). Editing supports the positioning of components on that board only.

For a high-level look at multi-board design within Altium NEXUS, see Designing Systems with Multiple Boards.

Access

With the required PCB selected in the workspace, this command can be accessed from the Multi-board Assembly Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Edit Selected Part command from the main menus.
  • Using the Ctrl+E keyboard shortcut.
  • Right-clicking anywhere in the workspace and choosing the Edit Selected Part command from the context menu.

Use

First, ensure that the PCB that you want to edit is selected. Either click directly on it in the workspace or click on its entry in the Multiboard Assembly panel.

After launching the command, you will enter part editing mode, with the selected PCB zoomed and centered (where possible) to fit within the main design window. The board will remain displayed in its full coloring, with all other boards grayed-out (Read-only).

Make changes to the placement of components as required, using manual placement and/or alignment features. Once you are finished editing, use the Finish Part Editing command (Ctrl+E).

If you want to cancel editing without implementing any of the changes, use the Cancel Part Editing command.

Applied Parameters: Action=Finish

Summary

This command is used to finish editing of the active part (PCB) in the active Multi-board Assembly document (*.MbaDoc). Any changes to the placement of components on the board will be saved.

For a high-level look at multi-board design within Altium NEXUS, see Designing Systems with Multiple Boards.

Access

With a PCB already being edited in the workspace, this command can be accessed from the Multi-board Assembly Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Finish Part Editing command from the main menus.
  • Using the Ctrl+E keyboard shortcut.
  • Right-clicking anywhere in the workspace and choosing the Finish Part Editing command from the context menu.
The command only becomes available provided a part (PCB) is actively being edited.

Use

After launching the command, all changes made to the placement of components associated to the board will be saved, and you will exit part editing mode. The view of the workspace will return to fit all boards in the assembly, with the board that was being edited remaining selected.

Tips

  1. While in part editing mode, the board being actively edited remains displayed using its full coloring. All other boards, which are read-only, appear grayed out. Once this command to finish editing is used, all boards will be presented in their full coloring.

Applied Parameters: Action=Cancel

Summary

This command is used to cancel editing of the active part (PCB) in the active Multi-board Assembly document (*.MbaDoc). Any changes to the placement of components on the board will not be saved.

For a high-level look at multi-board design within Altium NEXUS, see Designing Systems with Multiple Boards.

Tips
