Your idea first gets put on paper through the process of schematic capture. Traditionally, this first step in the design process has been completed independent of the rest of the PCB design cycle. But Altium Designer’s powerful Schematic Editor (SCH) environment goes far beyond traditional approaches– giving you all the utilities and tools you need to create, check, edit and print the schematic documents that form your design project.
Altium Designer’s unified platform integrates the design tools, features, and utilities you need for each part of the design process, giving you a streamlined workflow for simple, error-free design. Altium’s Schematic Editor application is connected to all other elements of your design so you access everything you need from one convenient location.
Panels of the SCH Editor Environment include:
The SCH Library panel– peruse and make changes to the components stored in the active schematic library document
The SCH Inspector panel– edit the properties of one or more design objects in the active schematic document; make changes to multiple objects of the same kind
The SCH List panel– display design objects from one or more documents in tabular format; quickly inspect and/or modify object attributes
The SCH Filter panel– construct filters and apply to the active schematic document, or all open schematic documents, to select and edit multiple objects with greater accuracy and efficiency
All the tools and utilities needed to perform checks for electrical and drafting violations, generate reports and create presentation quality schematic drawings are available in the editor.
