Web Review Improvements

This documentation page references NEXUS Server (part of the deployed NEXUS solution), which has been discontinued. All your PCB design, data management and collaboration needs can now be delivered by Altium Designer and a connected Altium 365 Workspace. Check out the FAQs page for more information.

The NEXUS Server Web Review feature provides a high-level browser based view of a Managed Project and includes graphic rendering of project documents with the ability add shared Comments. Now with an improved graphic engine and additional Comment functions, the Web Review feature is also accessible from the Project page allowing review at any time during the project development process.

Web Review access

The Web Review feature can now be accessed by opening the project of interest, by selecting a project’s name or its open icon () on the Projects page, and then clicking the project’s button. The feature opens in a new browser instance.

Note that as before (with a suitably licensed server), the Web Review feature is also available by selecting the icon in the Releases tab (under Details), which is present when the project has been released to the server.

To access Web Review from within the NEXUS client design space, open the Explorer panel, select the project of interest in the Projects folder and then select the view’s button. This will open the server’s Web Review feature (as shown below) for this project in a new browser instance.

Updated PCB Views

Harnessing the capabilities of a new graphics engine, the Web Review’s PCB view now offers improved rendering performance, the inclusion of polygon fills and a realistic 3D view option.

Select the button to switch to 3D PCB view and use the following mouse actions to manipulate the display:

  • Zoom: mouse wheel
  • Pan: right-click + drag
  • Angle: left-click + drag

Enhanced Properties data

The Properties pane in Web Review now offers a full set of the available data parameters for an object selected in the view.

When viewing a PCB in 2D mode, an interactive pop-up allows the highlighting and then selection of any layer object that lies under the cursor (net, polygon, etc). The Properties pane will show the available information for the selected object.

Freehand Comment markup

The NEXUS Server Web Review feature now offers a Freehand drawing style markup option for adding shared Comments.

Corresponding to the Freehand Comment style available in the NEXUS design space – accessed from the main Place menu – the markup is graphically drawn with pen tool opened from the button at the top of the Web Review work area. Right click to finalize the drawn shape and access its related text box in the ACTIVE COMMENTS pane.

Like the other Comment styles, a Freehand markup Comment is actively shared between the NEXUS Server and the NEXUS design client.
► See Document Commenting in Managed Projects for more information on commenting in the design space.

Comment User Assignment

Review Comments added to a project may be assigned to a specific User in either the NEXUS Server or NEXUS client (design side). Comment assignment is available by choosing the Assign option from the comment's button drop down menu and then selecting an available User. If a Comment thread is assigned on the client side, as shown on the left below, this is immediately reflected on the server side as shown in the image on the right – and visa versa.

An associated Task is automatically created for the assigned User, as presented in the Tasklist panel on the design (client) side and the Task Management page in the server’s browser interface.
