Add to BOM Components

Now reading version 3.2. For the latest, read: Add to BOM Components for version 5

This documentation page references Altium NEXUS/NEXUS Client (part of the deployed NEXUS solution), which has been discontinued. All your PCB design, data management and collaboration needs can now be delivered by Altium Designer and a connected Altium 365 Workspace. Check out the FAQs page for more information.

The Add to BOM Components dialogThe Add to BOM Components dialog

Summary

The Add to BOM Components dialog is used to define the number of instances of a component in an ActiveBOM. Active BOM supports adding additional managed (server) and unmanaged (library) components into the BOM. This is a two-step process; first the component is added into the BOM then the number of instances is defined. The remainder of the new item's parameters are edited directly in the BOM Items grid.

If the designator prefix or value of a new item needs to be edited or an instance removed, right-click on the item then select the Edit item command to open the Change / Remove dialog to edit or remove the item.

Access

After adding a new server or Custom Item (by clicking the Add new button in the ActiveBOM document then selecting the item type to add), right-click on the new item then select the Add instances of [<ItemDetails>] command.

Options/Controls

  • Designator prefix - enter the prefix to be used for the designator of the additional instance(s).
  • Separator - if required, a designator separator can be defined to give results such as X-1, or X:1.
  • Quantity - enter the number of components required. This value is used to define the designator range and will also appear in the ActiveBOM Quantity column.
