Summary

The Choose Component Type dialog is used to specify the ComponentType parameter associated with a Workspace Component. The parameter facilitates both the search and categorization of components in multiple locations through the design software.

Access

The dialog is accessed in the following ways:

  • From the Components panel: Right-click on a component entry in the list then select Operations » Change Component Type from the context menu.
  • From the Explorer panel: Right-click on selected component revision(s) then select Operations » Change Component Type from the context menu.
  • From the Batch Component Editor: Click on the Component: Type field in the component definition region, then click the button.
  • From the Component Template Editor: Click on the Default Value field associated with the ComponentType parameter, and then click the button.
  • From the Library Migrator in its Advanced mode: Right-click on a component type under the Component Types column or a component entry in the Components grid and select Change Component Type from the context menu.

Options/Controls

Columns

  • Name – the name of the available Component Type parameter.
  • Template – lists the name(s) of each Component Type templates, which will mirror the Component Type itself, or appear as a list of all the Component Types that have been merged, if a merge has taken place.

  • Folder – lists the name in which the Component Type location resides. The Folder name entry will be replaced with an asterisk (*) if Component Types have been merged.

Options

  • Search Filter – enter text in the textbox by which to filter the Name list.
  • Select the desired Component Type from the list and then click the  button to confirm its assignment to the currently selected component.
  • Click the  button to manage the list of available Component Types in the Data Management – Component Types page of the Preferences dialog.
  • Enter text in the dialog's Search field to filter the listing to the desired component type(s).
