The following pre-packaged resource, derived from this base command, is available:

Summary

This command is used to run a manual validation check for the component(s) currently being edited in the Component Library Editor. At the heart of the validation process is the powerful Component Validator, which tests for an array of potential issues with the component and its defined models - both hardwired tests, as well as a range of violation types that can be user-defined at the global level, on the Data Management - Component Rule Checks page of the Preferences dialog. Any of the hardwired tests that fail, or user-defined checks at a level of Error or above, would prevent release of the affected component(s).

Access

This command can be accessed from the Component Library Editor - in either its Single Component Editor or Batch Editor modes - by:

  • Choosing the Tools » Component Rule Check command from the main menus.
  • Choosing the File » Component Rule Check command from the main menus.
  • Clicking the  button on the Component Library Standard toolbar.

Use

After launching the command, the component rule check will be run. Any issues will be flagged as entries in the Messages panel.

Tips

  1. Hardwired validation checks all carry a report mode of . Examples of these checks include:
    1. Component not referencing any models.
    2. A target folder not specified for the component in the target managed content server.
    3. Component not having a unique Id.
  2. Component validation is also performed automatically, when you attempt to release the component(s) into new revisions of the corresponding Component Item(s) in the target managed content server.


Applied Parameters: Server=PinSwapper|Command=RunTASKINGPinSwapper|StartServer=True

This command is used to interactively perform pin-swapping within the Altium NEXUS PCB design workspace, and dynamically synchronize changes with your TASKING Pin Mapper tool. A component pin is swappable with another pin in that component when both pins have the same Pin Group. The swapping feature supports more than just pins; it also supports swapping a partially routed net. This is ideal if you are working on a dense board and escape routing from the components at both ends of a connection. When you perform a pin swap, any connected routing is also swapped to the target net.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by choosing the Tools » Pin/Part Swapping » Interactive TASKING Pin/Net Swapping command from the main menus.

The command will only be available provided the TASKING Pin Mapper provider software extension has been installed as part of your Altium NEXUS installation. This extension can be found on the Purchased page of the Extensions & Updates view.

Use

After launching the command, everything in the PCB workspace is masked (faded) except those pins that are swappable. Keep an eye on the Status Bar. It will prompt you for the next action: Choose Sub-Net to move. After clicking on a swappable pin, you will be prompted to choose a target net for the sub-net to swap. All possible target pins that can be swapped will be highlighted. Click on the target pin to complete the swap action. You will then be ready to perform another pin swap, if required.

As you make pin swaps within the PCB document, those changes are passed dynamically to your TASKING Pin Mapper tool, courtesy of the bi-directional communication support provided through the TASKING Pin Mapper Provider software extension. This ensures that your TASKING embedded source code is kept in-sync without the need to export and import change files.

Tips

  1. The pin group is an attribute of each pin in the component and its value can be any alphanumeric string. The pin groups for the entire component are set up in the Configure Pin Swapping dialog.
  2. Pin swap information will also appear in the Messages panel.
  3. Design changes that are a result of performing a pin swap in the PCB editor are propagated back to the schematic using the standard Design Update process (run the Design » Update Schematics command from the PCB Editor).
