Flow 1 Plan Verification Activities

This stage entails outlining the activities required to verify the designated verification items. A summary of this process involves identifying the verification items, determining the appropriate activities for each item, and establishing a plan outlining the steps and runs necessary to execute these activities effectively. This phase sets the foundation for the subsequent execution of verification tasks that could be done through compliance with files or test or manual verification flow.

The key steps of the workflow are presented below.

This flow forms the basis for other flows, which involves creating a verification activity in the V&V module, adding the requirements and Blocks to the verification items within the V&V module or from the requirements module, and creating a pre-planned run with a start date and end.

The slideshow below demonstrates how to create a new V&V activity and assign methods, requirements, components, and test runs to it. This forms the basis for subsequent flows.

To create a new V&V activity, click the  button when in the V&V Module.

In the window that opens, define the folder, name, and description of the new V&V activity and then click the  button. This creates a new V&V activity where you can add all the verification items (requirements and blocks) to the V&V activity and perform the V&V different flows.

The Activity Info page for the V&V activity includes fields for description, expected results, methods, and tags. Using the Methods drop-down, you can select verification methods to be used in the V&V activity to verify the V&V items.

To add the verification items, i.e., Requirement and Blocks, navigate to the Requirement Statuses view. Click the  button to add a Requirement to the V&V activity. The V&V activity can be assigned to the requirement in the requirements module as well.

In the Link Requirement window that opens, you can add the requirement and the block (optional) to the V&V activity.

The requirements and their blocks, along with the V&V status, are displayed in the Requirement Statuses view. When a V&V activity is created, an Initial Run is automatically generated. As you interact with these objects through different verification flows, the status of the requirements updates based on the "run" status.

The sections below details how to perform verification activities.

Create Verification Activity

To start, you need to create a new verification activity in the system. This activity consists of verification tasks you will perform on the requirements and Blocks. To create a verification activity, navigate to the Verifications and Validations module () and click the  button.

On the Activity Info view, you can input descriptions, expected results, and methods associated with the activity, as well as assign relevant tags. Additionally, you can enable approval requirements for the activity by enabling the Enable approvals for this Activity option.

Create a Planned Run

Once the V&V activity is created, an “initial run” is automatically created within the runs sections of the V&V activity. If the schedule for the planned runs is known already, you can create the runs along with the start and end dates and use them later for different milestones.

The step definition's attachment is copied (in read-only mode) to the step run.

Add Requirements and Blocks to Verification Item

The following part is independent of the concept of Applicable blocks (see Requirement Module).

In the V&V activity, you can navigate to the Requirement Statuses view to add requirements and Blocks to the activity. To create a V&V Item, you can click the  button. This will open a window where you can input the requirement and the optional Block.

You can add requirements and Blocks to the V&V items. The Blocks are optional and can be added along with the requirement. However, it is not possible to just have the Block alone as a V&V item.

The dashboard and Insights feature on the Requirements module now shows the number of requirements not assigned to an activity and the number of requirements with their current verification status.
