Defining the Via Types for Use with Your Board in CircuitMaker

Created: February 22, 2021 | Updated: February 9, 2022

The Home | Via Types region accessed from the Layer Stack Manager editor includes commands to add and delete additional via types and to replace the current drill-pairs with pairs created from the actual vias currently used on the board.

The Layer Stack Manager editor can be accessed by choosing Home | Board | Layer Stack Manager from the PCB editor.
For information about the Layer Stack Manager editor, refer to the Layer Stack Manager page.

Add

Click Add to add an additional via type. This new definition will have a name of <Type> <FirstLayer>:<LastLayer> (e.g., Thru 1:2). You can define the layers that the via spans in the Inspector panel.

The newly added via type will be located alongside any preexisting via types.

If an error is detected, it is flagged by an exclamation mark (). Hover over the icon for details about the error condition.

Delete

Click Delete to delete the currently selected via type.

From Used

The From Used button is used to replace the current drill pairs with pairs created from the actual vias currently used on the board.

A confirmation dialog will open; click Yes to effect the replacement.
