Add New Symbol

The Add New Symbol button and commands allow you to add a new or existing symbol to the component being defined.

The commands can be accessed by choosing Home | Models | Add New Symbol from the Component Editor.

Since a component can have only one linked schematic symbol model, these commands are only available if the component being defined has no linked symbol.

Adding a New Symbol

Click   to open the temporary Schematic Library editor, ready for you to define the symbol using the tools available under the Home tab on the ribbon. The symbol will initially be named using the name of the component currently being defined, model type, and model number – change this as required. Once defined, just save and close the editor – the symbol will appear back in the Models region of the Component Editor.

A new symbol can also be added by clicking the drop-down icon on the button below the Add Symbol region of the Component Editor and choosing New from the associated menu.

  • Search Filter – enter a search string in the provided text field and click the Search button to perform a search for a symbol model among those created by the CircuitMaker Community users.

  • Revisions – lists the revisions of the symbol model currently selected in the Components list in terms of their authors and creation dates.
