The SiliconExpert integration provides advanced data on the manufacturer parts so you can make more informed decisions when choosing components for your designs based on additional parameters such as the estimated time until obsolescence, RoHS and REACH status, risk metrics, etc. The key capabilities of the integration are:
- Direct integration – no need to leave your design environment since data is available in Altium Designer and Altium 365's Web Viewer interface.
- Comprehensive database – SiliconExpert offers data on over a billion parts, from passives to ICs.
- Accurate and reliable data – regular updates and strict protocols ensure you work with the most up-to-date and reliable information.
- Improved risk analysis – risk analysis parameters aid in making more reliable strategic decisions when choosing parts.
- Providing alternatives – the integration simplifies searching for possible part replacements by providing a ranked list of alternatives.
The SiliconExpert integration is paid functionality that is currently in the early access stage. To become an early adopter of the functionality, contact us using the form on the Altium 365 SiliconExpert Integration page.
Note that after getting access to the functionality, your SiliconExpert account must be enabled in the Admin – Apps page of your Altium 365 Workspace's browser interface: learn more.
When having access to the SiliconExpert integration functionality, you can pull high-quality data provided by SiliconExpert for manufacturer parts as described below.

The following places provide access to data from SiliconExpert:

When browsing manufacturer parts in the Manufacturer Part Search panel, click the Get data from SiliconExpert control in the parameter list region of the panel's Details pane. This will pull parameters and alternatives for the selected manufacturer part from SiliconExpert that will be shown in the parameter list and the Alternatives region of the panel, respectively.
For each found alternative, a cross type code is provided in the Alternatives region.

- A – pin to pin drop in replacement with exact electrical features.
- A/U – pin to pin drop in replacement, but the crossed device has better performance in specific key parameters.
- A/D – pin to pin drop in replacement, but the original device has better performance in specific key parameters.
- B – pin to pin compatible with minor electrical differences and/or minor package dimensions and also, it may have a combination of upgrade and downgrade specific features.
- B/U – pin to pin compatible with minor electrical differences and/or minor package dimensions, but the crossed device has better performance in specific key parameters.
- B/D – pin to pin compatible with minor electrical differences and/or minor package dimensions, but the original device has better performance in specific key parameters.
- C – pin to pin compatible with major electrical differences and also it may have a combination of upgrade and downgrade specific features.
- C/U – pin to pin compatible with major electrical differences, but the crossed device has better performance in specific key parameters.
- C/D – pin to pin compatible with major electrical differences, but the original device has better performance in specific key parameters.
- D – the two devices have similar functionality with a different package and/or pinout.
- F/D – the crossed device has the same functionality with a smaller number of logic cells.
- F/U – the crossed device has the same functionality with a larger number of logic cells.
- F – the crossed device has the same functionality.
- S – supplier recommended alternate, does not match parametric cross criteria.

When accessing part choices for a component, a part choice entry for the component will include an additional Parameters control. Click it to display a pop-up with a list of available manufacturer parameters. Click the Get data from SiliconExpert control at the bottom of the pop-up to pull data from SiliconExpert. Additional parameters will be shown in the list.

When in an ActiveBOM document, columns of SiliconExpert data can be made visible in the document from the Select columns dialog.

When creating a Workspace library component from a manufacturer part search (by saving a manufacturer part from the Manufacturer Part Search panel or by searching for a manufacturer part through the Component editor in its Single Component Editing mode), SiliconExpert data are presented in the Use Component Data dialog, from which the data can be opted to be included to the new component.

- Lead Free – indicates if the component contains the lead substance and exceeds the threshold limit or not.
- ELV
- RoHS Status – environmental status for the part number. Possible values:
- Yes – the part does not contain any of the restricted substances above the official maximum concentration value.
- Yes with Exemption – the part contains one or more of the restricted substances above the official maximum concentration value, but is still compliant because it falls under one of the exemptions.
- No – the part contains one or more of the restricted substances above the official maximum concentration value and not under any exemptions.
- Unknown – SiliconExpert could not determine RoHS status for the part as the supplier response is not clear within the declaration source (e.g., Certificate, Statement, or Website announcement).
- Not Required – the part is out of the RoHS regulation scope like research and development products.
- null – SiliconExpert does not yet cover the RoHS data of the given part. It may be under data development, and the customer can request SiliconExpert to scrub this data.
- RoHS Version – the version that the supplier is compliant with. Possible values:
- 2002/95/EC
- 2011/65/EU
- 2015/863
- Halogen Free – the halogens are five non-metallic elements found in Group 7 of the periodic table. The term "halogen" means "salt-former" and compounds containing halogens are called "salts". The Halogens are: Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine and Astatine.
- Green – restrictions on Certain Hazardous Substances outlined in RoHS as well as limits on halogens.
- China RoHS Status
- REACH(SVHC) Information – indicates whether the product contains one or more of the REACH Restriction (Annex VII) substances Based on the FMD. Possible values:
- Affected – the part contains one or more of the REACH Restriction (Annex VII) substances Based on the FMD.
- Unaffected – the part does not contain any of the REACH Restriction (Annex VII) substances based on the FMD.
- Unknown – SiliconExpert could not determine the REACH Restriction status for the part as the supplier declaration source is not clear (e.g., Certificate, Statement, or Website announcement).
- EU SVHC List Version – this feature declares the REACH Version depending on ECHA. Possible values:
- Rare Earth Element Information – rare earth elements are a group of seventeen chemical elements that occur together in the periodic table. The group consists of yttrium and the 15 lanthanide elements (lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, and lutetium). Scandium is found in most rare earth element deposits and is sometimes classified as a rare earth element.
- Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) – administrative measure on the control of pollution caused by Electronic Information Products (EIPs) came into effect for first step in March 1, 2007. It is also called ACPEIP or China RoHS. Possible values:
- Compliant
- Not Affected
- Affected
- NAS411 – the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) developed National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 411, Hazardous Materials Management Program, (HMMP) as an industry standard addressing HAZMAT management.
- TSCA – the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) is a United States law, passed by the United States Congress in 1976 and administered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), that regulates the introduction of new or already existing chemicals.
- Global PFAS Assessment – per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that includes PFOA, PFOS, PFNA, PFHxS and many other chemicals.
- Overall Risk – calculated based on the risk grades that resulted from some market and technology factors in reference to SiliconExpert’s component database and data sources.
- Lifecycle risk – estimated Lifecycle Risk. Possible values. Possible values:
- Low – lifecycle status and YTEOL estimate shows the part is good for future designs.
- Medium – the future availability of the part should be checked with the manufacturer, especially if the part is intended to be used in new designs.
- High – the part has an issue in its Lifecycle status; the part leaves Maturity Stage, status is NRND, LTB or Obsolete; estimated YTEOL are usually between 0 to 1 year, may increase according to LTB Opportunity.
- Unknown
- Lifecycle – part status in the market. Possible values:
- Preliminary – newly introduced to the market and not yet in production.
- Active – in full production by the manufacturer; 70% confidence level, the part is in production by the manufacturer but does not exist in the datasheet.
- NRND – Not Recommended for New Designs (Decline Stage).
- LTB – Last Time Buy (Phase-out Stage).
- Obsolete – no longer in production by the manufacturer.
- Aftermarket – part is available at aftermarket distributors.
- Custom – part status is unknown.
- Unconfirmed – custom parts.
- YTEOL – estimated number of years till obsolescence.
- Multi sourcing risk – risk based on Crosses availability. Possible values:
- Low – the part has more than one (in production) alternative from other Manufacturers.
- Medium – the part has one available (in production) alternative from other manufacturers or belongs to a product category that does not have identified alternative’s recipe (does not have crosses criteria).
- High – the part does not have available (in production) alternatives from other manufacturers.
- Unknown
- Crosses available within Part Category – this indicates whether or not this product category typically contains crosses. Please note that some parts may not carry crosses even though the product category may be crossable.
- RoHS risk – risk based on ROHS availability. Possible values:
- Low – the part is compliant with RoHS regulations.
- Medium – the part has RoHS exemption with a valid expiration date or is not compliant with RoHS regulation but still has an available (in production) compliant alternative from the same manufacturer.
- High – the part is not compliant with RoHS regulations and does not have a compliant alternative from the same manufacturer.
- Conflict Mineral status – determine whether minerals contained in supplier articles/products are. Possible values:
- 1- DRC Conflict Free
- 2- Not DRC Conflict Free
- 3- DRC Conflict Undeterminable
- Inventory risk – risk based on the availability of the part in the authorized distributors inventories. Possible values:
- Low – the part has not been carried under any authorized distributor inventories within the last 3 months or carried with quantities equal to zero.
- Medium – the part has been carried under one authorized distributor within the last 3 months.
- High – the part has been carried under more than one authorized distributor within the last 3 months.
- SE grade – a measure of how popular the part is in the industry by monitoring the part search activities and part stock availability at distributors. Lifecycle status and the RoHS status are also considered. Each part is examined against some factors, and as a result, a number of points are given to it. The possible values are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and no value.
