General Questions About Altium Launchpad Program

Altium LaunchPad is a program designed to help early-stage hardware startups access the professional design tools and resources they need to succeed. Through this program, qualified startups can get easy access to professional resources and design solutions, like Altium Designer, the most widely-used PCB design tool on the market.

What criteria should I meet to qualify?
  • Your company has been in operation for no more than 7 years.

  • You have less than $1M in total revenue to-date.

  • Your company has not previously owned Altium Designer

  • You are able to identify how much venture capital and monetary awards your company has raised.

  • Your company designs or plans to design its own physical electronic hardware products.

  • You are not in the business of offering design, engineering, or consultancy services.

How do I apply?

To apply for the Altium Launchpad, you must first fill out our program application form Link Here. Once completed, we will review your information and reach out to you directly. All completed applications will be sent to our internal review board in the order they are received.

How do I know if my application was accepted?

A local Altium Representative will connect with you using the contact information you provided to inform you that your application was accepted and to discuss the next steps including the delivery of your personalized startup quote.  

What type of Altium Designer License will I get?

Applicants accepted into the Altium Launchpad can choose between a Perpetual or Time-based License.

  • Perpetual License - Customer owns the asset, which includes a 12-month subscription (maintenance) fee. Any updates including major product releases may be installed during the 12-month period.

  • Time-Based License - The customer is paying for access to a fully-functioning license for one to three years.

How long will it take to receive my licenses?

You will receive your license no later than 24 hours after you execute the quote and submit payment.

How many licenses will I receive?

Applicants that are accepted into the Altium Launchpad are not limited in the number of licenses they can purchase.

Will I have access to technical support with my license?

Technical support is standard with all perpetual and time-based licenses and it will span for the duration of the license term. For additional information regarding our technical support please Click Here.

Will I have access to any training with my license?

Altium Launchpad includes 12-month of access to Altium Designers Essential On-Demand Training at no additional cost.

Are there any co-marketing opportunities offered as part of this program?

Co-marketing opportunities are discussed on an individual level with applicants that are accepted into the Altium Launchpad. Acceptable co-marketing activities may include but are not limited to; blog posts, customer success stories, video interviews, white papers, inclusion in Altium newsletters and podcasts, and Altium sponsored speaker engagements.

How long will my license be active?

The time-based license offered within the Altium Launchpad is available in 12, 24, or 36-month durations.

How do I access my license(s)?

In order to access your Altium Designer license(s), you’ll need to create an AltiumLive account first. Once created, simply sign in and you’ll be able to manage your license(s).

Can I re-apply to Altium Launchpad?

Yes, though in order to re-apply, you will need to fill out a new program application form and go through the review process.

What can I do if my company does not meet the requirements for Altium Launchpad?

If you are not eligible for this program, please contact your local Altium Representative. There may be additional options that you are qualified for outside of this offering. For additional information Click Here.

What’s the difference between a single-user and a floating-user?
  • Standalone - You’ll get a file hosted locally right on your own machine.

  • Private Server - Allows for multiple users so long as they are not active at the same time. The license files are hosted on a server behind your firewall.

  • On-Demand - Allows for multiple users so long as they are not active at the same time. The licenses are hosted on Amazon servers and managed through a dashboard. These can be checked out for up to a year and do not need to be connected to the internet.
