A trademark is any word, phrase, symbol, design, or combination there of that identifies the source of a good or service of a manufacturer and distinguishes it from competitors.
The trademarks listed below are trademarks of Altium LLC, and/or its subsidiaries and/or affiliates, in the United States. Altium may also have common law trademarks that are not listed below. Altium Trademark Usage Guidelines
Altium views its trademarks as some of its most essential intellectual property assets. Altium requests your assistance in safeguarding our brand by complying with theseTrademark Usage Guidelines (the 'Guidelines').
Other than the limited right of use expressly permitted herein, no additional rights are granted, whether by implication, estoppel, or otherwise. Please address inquiries concerning these Guidelines to legal@altium.com.
These Guidelines are for Altium affiliates, licensees, authorized resellers, partners, and other third parties interested in using Altium’s trademarks, service marks, or trade names (collectively "Altium trademarks"). Altium trademarks are in various forms and include words, logos, designs, slogans, colors, product shapes, product packaging, and sounds. Our trademarks include all registered or unregistered trademarks, including but not limited to those trademarks listed on the Altium Trademark List. Most of the trademarks are either: “word marks” (e.g., ALTIUM) or “design marks” or “logos” (e.g.,the Nexar Logo).
Third-party affiliates, licensees, partners, and resellers who have a current agreement providing authority to sell or promote Altium products and services should refer to specific trademark usage guidelines provided in their agreement. If your agreement does not specify these terms, please adhere to the guidelines below.
Prohibited Uses of Altium Trademarks
Company, Product, or Service Names. You may not use or register any Altium trademark, in whole or in part, as your company, product, or service name in any jurisdiction.
Domain Names and Social Media. Unless expressly authorized by Altium, you may not use or register domain names, social media handles, or account names that incorporate any Altium trademark.
Online Advertising and Keywords. Unless expressly authorized by Altium, you may not use Altium trademarks as keywords or in connection with services like Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, or other similar online advertising platforms.
False or Misleading Advertising. All use of Altium trademarks must be truthful and accurate. You may not use trademarks in a way that implies an endorsement, sponsorship, or formal relationship with Altium that does not exist.
Logos. You may not use any Altium logos without a formal agreement or express written consent from Altium authorizing that specific use.
Permissible Uses of Altium Trademarks
1. Accurate References to Altium Products or Services. Except for Altium logos (which require express written authorization), you may use Altium word marks to refer to Altium’s products or services in advertising, promotional, and sales materials. This use is permitted only if you possess the proper legal authority to sell or promote Altium’s offerings.
2. Indicating Compatibility. You may use Altium trademarks to describe the relationship between your products or services and those of Altium by using accurate referential phrases (e.g., “for use with,” “compatible with”), provided that:
● Prominence: The Altium trademark is displayed less prominently than your own product or service name.
● Naming: The Altium trademark is not incorporated into, or part of, your product or service name.
● Accuracy: The referential phrase is factually correct and complies with all terms set forth in any existing agreement with Altium.
3. Publications, Seminars, and Conferences. You may use Altium word marks in the titles or subject matter of books, magazines, periodicals, seminars, and conferences, provided the following requirements are met:
a) Referential Use: The Altium word mark is used referentially and is essential to the subject matter of the publication, seminar, or conference.
b) Brand Integrity: The use does not disparage Altium’s reputation or good will and reflects positively on Altium LLC, its products, and its technology.
c) Visual Prominence: Your name, logo, and trademarks must be displayed more prominently than the Altium word mark on all event and publication materials.
d) Clear Disclaimer: Each publication or material must conspicuously disclaim sponsorship by Altium using the following format: “[Title] is an independent[publication/seminar/conference] and is not affiliated with, or authorized, sponsored, or otherwise approved by Altium LLC.”
e) Ownership Attribution: You must include a trademark attribution notice identifying Altium LLC as the owner of its respective trademarks.Usage of Altium logo marks in publications, seminars, and conferences is prohibited without a formal agreement or express written consent from Altium.
Proper Use of Altium Trademarks
Protecting Altium trademarks ensures their long-term legal status and helps consumers identify our official products and services. All authorized parties must adhere to these guidelines when using Altium trademarks.
1. Do Not Alter Trademarks. Trademarks must be used consistently and exactly as they appear in the Altium Trademark List.
● Text Marks: Do not abbreviate, capitalize improperly, incorporate into acronyms, or change the spelling. Do not add words or design elements to the marks.
● Logo Marks: Use only approved master artwork from the Altium Digital Asset Gallery.
o Do not distort proportions, change fonts, or alter colors.
o Maintain the "minimum clear space" around the logo as specified in the brand kit.
o Ensure the logo remains at a legible size and resolution; never allow it to appear blurry or pixelated.
o Do not use Altium logos as decorative elements.
2. Use Trademarks as Adjectives. Trademarks are adjectives and should always be followed by the generic noun they modify (e.g., "software," "subscription," or "service").
● Best Practice: Use the trademark followed by its generic noun during the first mention, and then as frequently as possible throughout the text.
● Avoid: Never use Altium trademarks as nouns, verbs, or in possessive or pluralforms.
3. Use Proper Trademark Notice Symbols.
Notice symbols (™ or ®) inform the public of Altium’s exclusive ownership.
Refer to the Altium Trademark List for the correct symbol associated with each mark.
● Placement: Place the appropriate symbol in superscript immediately following the mark.
● Frequency: Use the symbol on the first or most prominent appearance of the trademark in any written material.
● Context: Include the symbol on subsequent pages if the topic changes or if the pages are intended for independent distribution.
● Rule of Thumb: When in doubt, include the symbol.
4. Include the Trademark Attribution Statement. All marketing collateral, advertisements, packaging, webpages, and manuals must include an attribution statement crediting Altium’s ownership.
● Location: Display this statement at the end of the material, in the document footer, or on the back of product packaging.
● Customization: The specific statement depends on the marks used. Use the template below to customize the attribution for your specific asset.

Usage Rules for Altium as a Trade Name
Altium serves as both a trademark for products and services and a trade name referring to the company, Altium LLC.When referring to the company itself, "Altium" functions as a noun. In this context:
● No Symbols: Do not use the ™ symbol.
● Possession: You may use the possessive form (e.g., "Altium’s headquarters").
● No Generic Descriptors: Since it is a proper noun, it should not be followed by a generic noun (e.g., use "Altium announced," not "Altium company announced").
● Formal Reference: In formal documents, use "Altium LLC" for the first mention. Subsequent references may simply use "Altium."
Misuse of Altium Trademarks
Please report any unauthorized use of Altium trademarks, or the use of logos and icons confusingly similar to Altium’s marks, to our legal department at legal@altium.com. When reporting a violation, please provide a copy or a clear description of the infringing material to assist in our review.
