Applied Parameters: ObjectKind=Project|Action=UpdateOther|Mode=Selected
Summary
This command is used to update child projects in the system design - referenced by all currently selected modules on the Multi-board Schematic document - with changes that have been made to the system design connectivity data, on that Multi-board Schematic document. This exchange of Pin/Net data enables the connectivity data between the Multi-board System Design and those constituent boards to be kept in sync.
Access
With at least one module selected within the workspace, this command can be accessed from the Multi-board Schematic Editor by:
- Choosing the Design » Update Selected Child Projects command from the main menus.
- Right-clicking in the workspace and choosing the Design » Update Selected Child Projects command from the context menu.
Use
First ensure that all modules whose child projects you wish to update, are selected in the main design workspace.
After launching the command, any differences that are detected between the current system design connectivity and the connection data in the Child Project(s), will be presented in the Engineering Change Order dialog. Use the ECO to validate and ultimately execute the required changes that will bring those child boards back into sync with the system design.
Tips
- If there are no differences, a Comparator alert dialog will indicate such and, by implication, that no changes are required to maintain the system design to Child Project synchronization.
- The update process should be performed after any Conflicts has been resolved in the Connection Manager dialog (Design » Connection Manager), so as to synchronize the selected Child Projects to the correct state of the system design.
