The following pre-packaged resources, derived from this base command, are available:


Applied Parameters: Action = StorePlus|Index=n (where n is in the range 1 to 8)

Summary

This command is used to add the current selection in the main design workspace to the objects already stored in the indicated selection memory location.

Access

The related indexed command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Selection Memory » Store Plus » n command from the main menus.
  • Using the Shift+n keyboard shortcut.
  • Holding Shift while clicking the STO n button in the Selection Memory dialog.

Use

First, ensure that all design objects that you wish to include in the stored selection are selected in the main design workspace.

After launching the command, the selection will be added to those objects that are already stored in the indicated memory location.

Tips

  1. This command will not add selected objects to the content of the memory location if the Lock option for the location has been enabled in the Selection Memory dialog.
  2. You can control all aspects of the selection memory feature from the Selection Memory dialog. This dialog is accessed by using the Ctrl+Q keyboard shortcut. As well as providing controls for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations, the dialog also summarizes the content status of each location. Selection content is summarized in terms of quantity of specific object (if the selection contains objects of a single type) or total number of objects (if the selected objects are of differing types).


Applied Parameters: Action = Apply|Index=n (where n is in the range 1 to 8)

Summary

This command is used to apply a filter to the current document, essentially using the content of the indicated selection memory location as its scope.

Access

The related indexed command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Selection Memory » Apply » n command from the main menus.
  • Using the Shift+Ctrl+n keyboard shortcut.
  • Clicking the Apply button associated with memory location n in the Selection Memory dialog.

Use

After launching the command, filtering will be applied based on the content of the indicated selection memory location. The visual result of the applied filtering in the main design workspace is determined by a series of controls defined at the bottom of the Selection Memory dialog:

  • Mask - the filtered objects will appear fully visible in the workspace with all other objects becoming dimmed. With masking applied, all objects not under the scope of the filter will be unavailable for selection/editing.
  • Select - the filtered objects will be selected in the workspace.
  • Zoom - the filtered objects will be zoomed and centered (where possible) in the workspace.

Any combination of these options can be enabled. For example, you might want to have all filtered objects zoomed, centered and selected in the main design window, while applying masking to take away the clutter of other design objects.

The Clear Existing option, also in the dialog, enables you to extend an existing filter, essentially refining the filter further by applying a new filter in addition to the existing one. To do this, make sure this option is disabled. If it is enabled (default), the existing filter will be cleared before applying the new one.

Tips

  1. You can control all aspects of the selection memory feature from the Selection Memory dialog. This dialog is accessed by using the Ctrl+Q keyboard shortcut. As well as providing controls for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations, the dialog also summarizes the content status of each location. Selection content is summarized in terms of quantity of specific object (if the selection contains objects of a single type) or total number of objects (if the selected objects are of differing types).
  2. With masking applied, all objects not under the filter scope will be unavailable for selection/editing. The extent of the masking applied can be manually adjusted using the Masked Objects slider bar accessed in the Mask and Dim Settings region of the View Configuration panel.
  3. You can manually clear an existing (and applied) filter at any time by using the Shift+C keyboard shortcut or by clicking the  button in the Selection Memory dialog.


Applied Parameters: Action = RecallPlus|Index=n (where n is in the range 1 to 8)

Summary

This command is used to select objects in the main design workspace of the current document that are currently stored in the indicated selection memory location, in addition to any objects already selected.

Access

The related indexed command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Selection Memory » Recall Plus » n command from the main menus.
  • Using the Alt+Shift+n keyboard shortcut.
  • Holding Shift while clicking the RCL n button in the Selection Memory dialog.

Use

After launching the command, all objects that are part of the currently stored selection in the indicated memory location will become selected in the main design workspace. Any objects that were already selected prior to launching the command will remain selected.

Tips

  1. You can control all aspects of the selection memory feature from the Selection Memory dialog. This dialog is accessed by using the Ctrl+Q keyboard shortcut. As well as providing controls for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations, the dialog also summarizes the content status of each location. Selection content is summarized in terms of quantity of specific object (if the selection contains objects of a single type) or total number of objects (if the selected objects are of differing types).


Applied Parameters: Action = Clear|Index=n (where n is in the range 1 to 8)

Summary

This command is used to clear the content of the indicated selection memory location.

Access

The related indexed command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Selection Memory » Clear » n command from the main menus.
  • Clicking the Clear button associated with memory location n, in the Selection Memory dialog.

Use

After launching the command, the content of the indicated selection memory location will be cleared.

Tips

  1. After using the clear command, the content status will be displayed as Memory n is empty.
  2. This command will not clear the content of the memory location if the Lock option for that location has been enabled (in the Selection Memory dialog).
  3. You can control all aspects of the selection memory feature from the Selection Memory dialog. This dialog is accessed by using the Ctrl+Q keyboard shortcut. As well as providing controls for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations, the dialog also summarizes the content status of each location. Selection content is summarized in terms of quantity of specific object (if the selection contains objects of a single type) or total number of objects (if the selected objects are of differing types).

As well as providing controls for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations, the dialog also summarizes the content status of each location. Selection content is summarized in terms of quantity of specific object (if the selection contains objects of a single type) or total number of objects (if the selected objects are of differing types).


Applied Parameters: Action = Store|Index=n (where n is in the range 1 to 8)

Summary

This command is used to store the current selection in the main design workspace into the indicated selection memory location.

Access

The related indexed command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:

  • Choosing the Edit » Selection Memory » Store » n command from the main menus.
  • Using the Ctrl+n keyboard shortcut.
  • Clicking the STO n button in the Selection Memory dialog.

Use

After launching the command, the selection will be stored into the indicated memory location.

Tips

  1. Using the command again, with a different selection in the main design workspace, will overwrite the existing stored selection, unless you have purposefully enabled the Lock option for the associated memory location (in the Selection Memory dialog).
  2. You can control all aspects of the selection memory feature from the Selection Memory dialog. This dialog is accessed by using the Ctrl+Q keyboard shortcut. As well as providing controls for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations, the dialog also summarizes the content status of each location. Selection content is summarized in terms of quantity of specific object (if the selection contains objects of a single type) or total number of objects (if the selected objects are of differing types).


Applied Parameters: Action = ShowDialog|Index=1

Summary

This command is used to run the Selection Memory dialog, from where you can control all aspects of the selection memory feature. The Selection Memory feature enables you to select objects in your design and save that selection for recall at any time.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by using the Ctrl+Q keyboard shortcut.

Use

After launching the command, the Selection Memory dialog will open. The dialog contains all controls necessary for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations.

Tips

  1. As well as providing controls for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations, the dialog also summarizes the content status of each location. Selection content is summarized in terms of quantity of specific object (if the selection contains objects of a single type) or total number of objects (if the selected objects are of differing types).
