Summary

The Test Queries Result dialog displays the number of objects affected by the selected rule, taking into account any defined rule specializations. This allows you to see if any objects match the query and check if those objects affected by the filters and rules are the desired result of your search terms.

Access

The dialog is accessed from the PCB Editor by clicking the Test Queries button in the PCB Rules and Constraints Editor dialog (Design » Rules).

Options/Controls

Unary Test Queries Result

In Unary rules, a rule is applied to a single set of objects based on the full query. 

  • Rule - Displays the name of the rule being tested and matching expressions. The link listed to the right of the expression result lists the number of results that match. Clicking on the link will highlight those results in the workspace.
  • Taking into account - Displays any filters that are included in the query. The number link on the right displays the number of results that match the specified rule, expression and rule priority. Click on the link to highlight those results in the workspace.
  • Rules with highest priorities - Displays which rules have been given the highest priority in the filter results. The link listed to the right lists the number of results that match. Clicking on the link will highlight those results in the workspace.
  • Zoom/Mask - Use the drop-down to select Normal, Mask or Dim depending on how you want the affected components to be highlighted in the PCB document. If Zoom is checked, the PCB document will also zoom into the affected components.

Binary Test Queries

In Binary rules, a rule is applied between objects in two different sets with each set being created based on its respective full query.

  • Rule - Displays the name of the rule being tested and matching expressions. The link listed to the right of the expression result lists the number of results that match. Clicking on the link will highlight those results in the workspace.
  • First object query - Displays the first object set. The link listed to the right lists the number of results that match. Clicking on the link will highlight those results in the workspace.
  • Second object query - Displays the second object set. The link listed to the right lists the number of results that match. Clicking on the link will highlight those results in the workspace.
  • Zoom/Mask - Use the drop-down to select Normal, Mask or Dim depending on how you want the affected components to be highlighted in the PCB document. If Zoom is checked, the PCB document will also zoom into the affected components.
