The following pre-packaged resource, derived from this base command, is available:

Applied Parameters: None

Summary

This command is used to interactively perform differential pair-swapping within the design workspace. A differential pair is swappable with another differential pair when the pins of both pairs belong to the same Pair Group.

For a high-level overview of swapping functionality in Altium NEXUS, see Pin, Pair and Part Swapping.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by choosing the Tools » Pin/Part Swapping » Interactive Differential-Pair Swapping command from the main menus.

Use

After launching the command, everything in the PCB workspace is masked (faded), except those differential pair pins that are swappable. The Status Bar will instruct you to choose the first differential pair to swap - click on either of that pair's pins. The Status Bar will then instruct you to choose a different differential pair. All swappable target differential pair pins will be highlighted, simply click on either of the pins in the second pair to complete the swap.

Tips

  1. The swapping of differential pairs is governed by the value of the pair group for a differential pair. The pair group attribute is accessed in the Differential Pair Swapping tab of the Configure Pin Swapping dialog.
  2. It is not necessary to define Part Sequence values for differential pair pins, the differential pair definition details which is the positive pin in the pair, and which is the negative pin.
  3. Pair swap information will also appear in the Messages panel.
  4. Design changes that are a result of you performing a differential pair swap in the PCB editor are propagated back to the schematic using the standard Design Update process (run the Design » Update Schematics command from the PCB Editor).
